@meggie Umm...what they doing?
meggie · F
@badminton I guess they are enjoying themselves!
Thereyouare · 56-60, M
@Fairydust great thing about Liverpool women is they are naturally beautiful
They don't have to fix themselves up

JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
There were no men there to impress.
@JimboSaturn You had to know there would be guys who are into curlers! 🤣
@JimboSaturn The men were hard at work, but now they hardly work
@BeefySenpie They were [big][c=4C0073]hard [/c][/big]at work? If I got hard at work, I'd be in big trouble!! And so would you, sonny! 🤣
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
That was a common sight!!
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
Yet we're worried about going out in our pj's to Walmart 😂
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@AlchemyFox and I see so many young people in their pj’s at Walmart. Even a young man In His bathrobe
I think the grocery store near my place is still using the carts they had in the 60's...
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@BrewCityBarfly I get those all the time! Too damn funny!
i wonder what their shopping behavior would be like on black friday 🤔
@cherokeepatti I think that Cabbach Patch '83 was the first year for it.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@NativePortlander1970 I remember somewhere back then when my sister started going to Black Friday sales every year. I went a couple times much later, like early 2000’s and was very disgusted about things being sold out and disappointed having to get up so early and going to a store like Best Buy and seeing lines wind up and down the parking lot.
@cherokeepatti It always pissed me off about their bait and switch tactics, the barely readable fine print in the ads always saying only three available. Then in about 2005 or so numerous states passed laws that demanded at least 50 of the more high end items must be available, Nevada was one of them, but there were still crazy insane rushes to get them.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
They probably have a Tupperware party to go to in the afternoon and set their hair in curlers to dry before then.
meggie · F
@cherokeepatti do people in America still have tupperware parties? I think they went bankrupt over here. Even Avon sellers never call anymore.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@meggie I have no idea because nobody has invited me to one since the early 80’s. These parties where people host it to their relatives, friends & coworkers has fallen out of favor here. There used to be cookware parties, Avon parties, Tupperware parties, Mary Kay, Amway and Raleigh. They found other ways to sell their products especially online. I think people just sell to co-workers and friends from a small catalog. I think they also sell on Amazon. Watched a video this afternoon of a young man who bought an Amazon pallet and there was a box of Tupperware in it. Rubbermaid products are much less expensive in the last few decades. I still have Tupperware from the 1970’s that I use.
meggie · F
@cherokeepatti yes i think you are right. I occasionally hear people referring to them, but thankfully I missed that era. Also Amway was another house party thing which probably went bust too.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
My grandmother use to do this all the time
Thereyouare · 56-60, M
They are going to look pretty for their husband when he gets home those days have came and went lol
ArtieKat · M
I may be mistaken but the shelving and the trolleys look more modern than the 1960s to me. I WAS THERE lol! 🤣
ArtieKat · M
@meggie Not born in London, but brought up there from 6 months to 4 years old, and then back there from 19 to 30
meggie · F
@ArtieKat i have an old hippy friend around your age from near Abbey Rd, I think he was born in 1952, so you won't of known him.
ArtieKat · M
@meggie I mainly lived in West and South-west London. Similar age to me
What are wonen? Ladies with curlers?
Applepiedom · 56-60, M
Nah that's Walmart now
meggie · F
@Applepiedom do they wear so many clothes in Walmart now?
Applepiedom · 56-60, M
@meggie you're right sometimes less
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
That’s pretty accurate at least for the seventies
Musicman · 61-69, M
What a fabulous picture. I remember those days. 🤗
hunkalove · 61-69, M
Hubba Hubba! Hot babes!
Heartlander · 80-89, M
Looking at the background, that could have been my dad's store in 1960. But not the ladies. Mostly, ladies called in their orders and had them delivered, or sent their husbands or kids to the store. Stay at home moms were too busy to waste time shopping.
smiler2012 · 56-60
@meggie 😆the woman pushing the trolley looks like a young winnie mcgugan from mrs browns boys but it is not i know because the trolley would be full of guinness lol
meggie · F
@smiler2012 it sure does, I hadn't noticed that.
