i lived in Lititz, Pa for about a year and i was fascinated with the Amish and thought a lot about leaving the "English" life. i was only 18 at the time, tho

@pentacorn Do you ever wish you would have done it?
pentacorn · F
@MoonlightLullaby yes, i still think it would have suited me, if i'd done it early. i figure it would have taken about 2 years to acclimate, then eventually find a husband and go on from there. i like structure and hard work. i like quiet. i like nature. it's just that i've been an agnostic atheist since i was 8 yrs old. i might have kept that quiet. it's not like i dislike the idea of a god... or gods.

@pentacorn I understand what you're saying about your beliefs. It's difficult for me to discern at times. Thank you for sharing this little piece of yourself. I love learning new things and especially about other people's perspectives.🌷🍃

Great pics of dedicated labor, as I see the story behind them, and I'm sure you know what I mean. I bet you learn a lot by watching them.

@MoonlightLullaby The whole world could learn a lot from them
MoonlightLullaby · 41-45, F
@kodiac Most definitely. We're a declining society and it's quite sad.

@kodiac I was too young when we lived on the farm in Missouri but it was a happy lifestyle. Kids helped with chores back then. I loved to do gardening and would pick anything that I could. Green beans by the washtub full for example, strawberries, etc. Also snapped the beans and stood on a chair to wash the jars because my hand fit inside of them better than my aunt’s hand. Didn’t seem like work, we felt free.

Reminds me of the county in Missouri that I had lived in. Had the largest population of Amish in the state. I would see these in the fall at various farms alongside the rural roads we would travel. My uncle said they were oat shocks.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@cherokeepatti These are corn dhocks .

Amish or not my exact neighbors but there not far. Many Amish at my local farmers market. I live in eastern Pennsylvania
PoetryNEmotion · F
They have old ways that work for them. Modern ones have electricity and cells too.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@PoetryNEmotion Yeah those are tourist amish or Mennonite. They aren't like the reL amish
PatKirby · M
Those are hard working people. I admire that. Saw some on the side of the road selling their pies.
