Are you upgrading to Windows 11 or sticking with 10 or going to something like Linux?

Win 11 requires hardware to support TPM (Trusted Platform Manager) 2.0 which renders almost all current hardware older than about 5 yrs or so redundant in terms of being able to upgrade to Windows 11.

TPMs are rather ubiquitous actually (definitely for more than 5yrs, maybe 10yrs ago they were harder to find), it's the restrictions on processors the thing that makes a lot of older hardware incompatible

My laptop runs Windows 11, but my PC won't support it. I may just run 10 for a while longer.

I am heading for a Linux version called Zorin...😷
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Zorin, Ubuntu and a few others all look good. Many years ago on some really old (by now standards) Windows rugged systems I was trying Gentoo linux.

@zonavar68 I have 2 laptops and a desktop to migrate, then retire this desktop. Its just a relic now..😷

Does anyone know if the TPM is a hardware thing or a software/firmware thing?

@zonavar68
Both.

TurboTax advised that it will no longer be available for Windows 10 users for the 2025 Income Tax year, which means you'll have to upgrade to Windows 11 if you're a user of TurboTax each year.
