If you remember windows 95

There was a message which said , "this program has performed an illegal operation"
Well my mom got that message and she unplugged the PC and was afraid the police were coming.... 🤣

Windows 95 was my friend. Everyone preferred 98. But dammit! I missed 95.

Yeah. Im Old AF
WonderGirl · F
@Slicker24 Windows Vista and Windows 7 were almost identical.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@WonderGirl They probably were identical beyond a few visible differences!

A computer dealer once told me 7 & and 8 differed only in the latter being much more symbol-driven to operate, otherwise the same software behind the screen. He added that a lot of his customers who used their computers for much more than text messages and Internet browsing, asked him to re-set the new, 8-loaded machine to 7.

@ArishMell 8.1 brought the start menu back. ;)

XP was my favorite, I usd it for almost two years after they stopped supporting it, it worked fine so I said what the hell.
JohnnyNoir · 61-69, M
@FreeSpirit1 XP was the best OS they made.
sylvsn59 · 61-69, M
@FreeSpirit1 XP fan too.
WonderGirl · F
@FreeSpirit1 I went from XP to 7. I tried 8 and 8sp1. They both sucked. I updated to 10 and now my new laptop has 11 which is basically the same as 10. I like it.

One can only imagine what we site she was on at the time

@NCCindy 🤣

Was that the one that also said there had been a "fatal error"? Always left me wondering if I needed to summon medical assistance 🤔
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
I still have a working system (toughbook cf-18 mk2) running Win XP. I only upgraded to modern Windoze when I got a CF-29 about 5 years ago. Now I run a CF-31 Mk 5 with Win 10 Pro and have nil intention to upgrade to Win 11.

@zonavar68
Now THAT is dedication! I thought my Dad's refusal to give up his 8-track stereo system was a huge deal that was bordering on yielding the telltale signs of the early onset of dementia, but running Windows 95 with XP is pretty much over the top in my books! Congratulations young man!
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
@swirlie XP is the best version - it runs on the NT core and doesn't have any of the fluff of later versions. Just not supported since 2014.

Remember the Blue Screen of Death?
Fatal error
You mean I'm going to die?!!!!!
Degbeme · 70-79, M
Window 95 was a nightmare.
Pretzel · 70-79, M
tell her it's okay to pull the tag off the pillows and mattresses too
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@Pretzel she's no longer alive but that's funny 🤣
I think my last Windows PC was Windows 2000. That was an awesome OS. Unfortunately, it seemed all those early versions eventually were compromised by some kind of virus.
CheezeburgerBrown · 36-40, M
Smoking weed does that too ! lol
supersnipe · 61-69, M
I remember Windows 95 had the 'paperclip'. And I remember seeing a 'dog' on one version of Windows.

ArishMell · 70-79, M
Brilliant!
tfan123 · 46-50, M
😂😂😂😂
A lot of older people still fall for similar scams.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Slicker24 They do, though the "illegal operation" message as the computer stopped was not a "scam" - just a fragile operating system.
@ArishMell Just a simple reboot in your back in business. I got those blue screens of death when I was using Windows 7. I was using Windows 7 for a long time because everyone had me so afraid that Windows 10 was just too confusing. They were full of it.

I am still using Windows 10. I refuse to go out and buy another computer just to get Windows 11. You can use any operating system you choose. Hell, you could be using Windows 3.12 if you wanted to.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Slicker24 I wanted to move to WIndows-10 for an up-rated programme I use, but MS then converted it to WIN-11 and I could not revert it.
😂 awwwbless her haha 🥴

And to think that pornhub was only in it's infancy during the era of Windows 95! 🤣
