Ever get a virus on your phone?

Yesterday my cell phone screen started flashing with a loud sound saying I had viruses. Now every time I use the phone , the text sound alert keeps playing multiple times all DAY from the virus page I assume. I guess it's saying to buy antivirus program but I am buying a new phone soon so not doing that. Anyone know how to stop this sound alert ? And should you install a free antivirus on a new phone?

If it's on your browser, delete all browsing data and clean the cache. Also check for any unknown folders in your downloads and delete them. That'll probably help.

@Baybreeze it should appear when you select to delete the browsing data. You'll see an option to ✔️ to clear 'Cached Images and Files'.

To be safe, just do a hard reset on the phone. Of course, to do this all your data (contacts, etc) needs to have been backed up to the cloud.

The easiest way to clear the cache on ANY app on a cellphone is to long press on the app icon, select "info", select storage and cache then "clear cache".

This includes any version of chrome!

Since you are there back tab once on the "←" on top and press "Force stop".

If you still have problems, you might have to clear everything else in your browsers settings. Yet do everything. Like cookies, site preferences, all open tabs and browser history.

That’s one of the reasons I use iPhone…while a virus isn’t inconceivable, it’s significantly less likely. And since everything I have is in the iCloud, if I get a virus it’s as easy as factory resetting the device and reinstalling from the cloud to purge.
Do you have your contacts, pix and data stored remotely? If so, do a factory reset, wipe the phone, and reboot
