who the hell spends over $1000 on a phone?

Broke my mobile phone today and despite being happy over that, I have been getting nagged at all day from numerous people including my bosses about having to have a mobile phone so I can be contacted.
what a world we live in now 🙄

Anyway, just looked up phones thinking $100 is way more than i would ever need to get a phone and shocked to see phone cases are more than $100 now.
Phones are going for over a thousand dollars. that is absurd to me.
crazy people actually spend that amount of money on such things.

We should go back to the days of sending ravens or pigeons or whatever to each other instead haha. That is the world I want to live in

Insane. *smh* Probably it's mostly paying for a 'brand name'.
I've never spent more than a little over a hundred for a phone. I really dislike them, it's mostly a necessary inconvenience.

Ikr. My phone is 5 years old now. Everyone has started to nag me about getting a new one but girl nope I don't want to buy a phone that's pricier than our electricity, water and grocery bill combined. Hard to find a budget phone these days but thank goodness some Japanese? companies are popping up that will sell you budget phones now. The cameras aren't gonna be what I want but at least the phones work fast and deliver, and battery lives are much longer than Samsung and iPhone.

@assemblingaknob its crazy the price of them. All the bills that come less combined for one phone is crazy to think of and more so the people who go out of their way to buy the new phones on release every time just to have the newest edition

@Torsten Ugh I know. But like collecting tech is a common hobby so every time I complain about people enabling companies to put a high price tag I feel like an a-hole so I usually just zip up about it. :\

I paid £12 for a phone that work colleagues can contact me on and that I can use for emergencies when I am out on business. I could pay ridiculous amounts per month for a top of the range model that probably won't even work properly in the remote area I live in.

Not me lol 🤣 I bought my phone for £40, and it's a Huawei (2019 model) that had hardly been used. Someone I know sold it to me...it's not like you can get those kind of prices in a store or online 😐

If your bosses want you to be contactable let them buy you a phone.
You can buy a good second hand phone for way less than new,a three year old phone is around a third the price of a new phone.

I buy a new phone when my current phone stops working. I’m willing to pay more so I can use the same phone for awhile. I’m not going to buy a cheaper phone because they tend to have a problem being reliable to use. I have a friend who uses the cheapest phone he can get from the phone companies. He’s always cursing his phone and recently just broke it. I don’t have the problems with my iPhone that he has with his.

@Darksideinthenight2 if I could afford it I would buy myself one. Extra space and a better camera would be fun. *Diamonds have many uses though.
I think it’s just what pleases different people. I have no issue personally either way. As long as the phone works.

Check for Xiaomi.
They're good quality phones that rival Apple and Samsung and cost a fraction of the price.
I dunno where you live, not all carriers support them, but it's fully supported in most of Europe and in the US by Mint Mobile.

I have an Oppo, got it on promo price, 5 years ago, and ive dropped it like 10 thousand times but the screen has never cracked. Still looks fresh. Battery time has decreased over the years but still only have to charge it once every 24 hours.

I just brought a new Samsung for 139 euros with 10 euros free credit, I lost my last Samsung phone that only 129 euros also received 10 euros, the work gave me an iPhone worth over 1000 euros but I never use it lol

I would never pay more than $200 and so far, I have a $120 phone that is about five years old.
I also don't keep it with me all day unless I leave home.
