Sorry, but unlike dogs, your cat will never really love you

It’s just not in their DNA. If you’re lucky your cat likes you. You can like cats better for various reasons (lower maintenance, etc.) but don’t you ever tell me they make better companions. Dogs actually love you back.
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
I'm sorry my post triggered you 😂

I actually have and love both ♥️
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@SwampFlower haha I wouldn’t say triggered, I’d say ✨inspired✨

Zeuro · 26-30, F
@Carazaa I wasn’t being rude biatch
AbbySvenz · F
My kitty loves me plenty.
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@AbbySvenz not chemically
Carazaa · F
I had an orange cat that went wherever I went all day, bathroom, kitchen, living room and back never left my side. And when I sat down he would jump in my lap, he wanted to sit on my lap all day or on my book or computer. I went to work one day and he followed me behind my car I guess and was hit by another car. He was the best cat ever. We called him Fin.
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@Carazaa if you’re look into the science they really don’t. Fact if they were big enough they’d literally kill you

@Zeuro I don't believe that. Cats love to snuggle with people. I walk down the street and cats come up and purr and beg to be petted. I have owned many cats, and many dogs. There are many breeds of both and it all depends how you develop the relationship and how you talk to them and some are naturally more cuddly than others Orange cats are the cuddliests. They think they are puppies, they love to hug, and kiss you all day.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
Cats can suffer anxiety and depression when separated from their bonded humans for prolonged periods of time. Studies show that cats form very similar attachments to humans as do dogs, but their signs of affection are different. Cats are indeed more independent and not slavishly obedient, but if that is why you don't think they love then maybe the problem in the relationship is you, not them. 😏
MethDozer · M
@ViciDraco Loyalty and companionship, two sided exchange? Bizzare
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@MethDozer cats offer those, often with stronger loyalty than some dogs. Sitting on command isn't loyalty. And not many human lovers would care to be commanded the way we do dogs. Does that mean dogs love more than people?

Tell me about it. I’ve been taking care of this feral cat for 3 years now. Sometimes it just disappears for a day or so and comes back like it’s hungry but not starving. I think when other people are home it’ gets better pickin’s than what I offer, and acts like a stranger many times too. Like I’m going to hurt it or something.
Iwillwait · M
@cherokeepatti Oh, he def has "rounds," he takes. Most Cats will pattern or stay if the food is extra yummy.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Iwillwait I see a pattern, about two days after a major holiday this cat disappears. I think it’s eating holiday leftovers that some family is putting out on their back porch. And some weekends, gone all weekend and shows up on Monday mornings
Iwillwait · M
@cherokeepatti yep or their children are letting them in the home and when he gets restless and asks to leave they open the door and off to you he goes. 🙂
lmfao do you want people to be unhappy or just hate cats? 😹

@ViciDraco it’s not one study, there’s plenty of studies
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@lovelywarpedlemon to answer your question, I don’t hate cats. I used to have a cat. But they don’t love you the same way a dog can.
SW-User
This has broken my heart 😭
Carazaa · F
@SW-User Don't believe it.
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@Carazaa literally google it and you’ll see that I’m right
Nobody00 · F
Cats are very loving
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@Nobody00 affectionate maybe, but even that doesn’t compare to the average dog
graphite · 61-69, M
Some theorize cats would kill us if we were smaller. They are killing machines, killing more birds and small animals than all other sources combined.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@graphite dogs probably would as well. Growing up in rural areas, we've always had to be careful of the dogs killing chickens for fun.
graphite · 61-69, M
@ViciDraco Some dogs might. I've had this neighbor's cat camped out in my yard to kill birds in the neighbor's bird feeder. Cat jumps up, comes down with a newly dead bird in its mouth. Why? The cat already has plenty of food.
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@ViciDraco um there are plenty of dogs that are certainly capable of killing their owners due to their size but they rarely do. With big cats it’d be just a matter of time, they’re like tigers or lions

@SW-User it’s measured by oxytocin levels

Zeuro · 26-30, F
@SW-User no they measure it in positive interactions
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
if someone screams at you/attacks you, a cat will just sit there and watch

a loyal dog will rip their face off for you... 🤔
JohnOinger · 41-45, M
Cats Are more loners they like to keep to theirselves Dogs love People
Elessar · 26-30, M
Not really.

https://www.realclearscience.com/blog/2013/12/cats_are_as_loving_as_dogs_you_just_dont_realize_it.html

Dogs have just a more servile way of displaying it. But obedience/worshipping and loving are different things, if people confuse the two concepts, as ViciDraco said, the problem isn't on the animal(s).
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@Elessar the article mentions fondness.. Yeah sure your cat can be fond of you, but love is a chemical reaction that objectively happens at much lower levels for cats
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
This is why I love dogs. They want affection and give affection back.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@Beatbox34 my cat reacts much more to affection than my dogs. My cat leans into it and responds to my touch. The dogs just stand there like idiots and it's hard to tell if they like it or they just don't have anything better to do.
SW-User
How dare you say these things
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@SW-User I am a truth teller 🤷‍♀️
SW-User
True. You get things off your chest! @Zeuro
DrSunnyTheSkeptic · 26-30, M
You know not cats then, dog-lover. I have not known a pet's love like the love of a cat given to me. Cats are harder to truly win over but once they are yours they are yours, they don't trust others like they do you.

Your correct, dogs are mans best companion
I saw another study that said that domestic cats are closer to tigers in their personality than any other cat.
