Sorry, but unlike dogs, your cat will never really love you

It’s just not in their DNA. If you’re lucky your cat likes you. You can like cats better for various reasons (lower maintenance, etc.) but don’t you ever tell me they make better companions. Dogs actually love you back.

Cats can suffer anxiety and depression when separated from their bonded humans for prolonged periods of time. Studies show that cats form very similar attachments to humans as do dogs, but their signs of affection are different. Cats are indeed more independent and not slavishly obedient, but if that is why you don't think they love then maybe the problem in the relationship is you, not them. 😏

@ViciDraco So a cat can love you. It's just that it is like a disfunctional and toxic relationship with a gold digging whore.

@ViciDraco do you know what oxytocin is? It’s the “love chemical” in the brain. It’s released in both dogs and humans when they interact with each other. For cats, when interacting with their human they release less oxytocin than humans do when they have a positive interaction with a stranger. So no cats don’t “love you,” though they might find you agreeable

@Zeuro oxytocin is much more than a love chemical and hardly the defining factor of love.

@MethDozer it sounds like you have a distorted view of love...

@ViciDraco Loyalty and companionship, two sided exchange? Bizzare

@MethDozer cats offer those, often with stronger loyalty than some dogs. Sitting on command isn't loyalty. And not many human lovers would care to be commanded the way we do dogs. Does that mean dogs love more than people?
