@Vivaci @TheWildEcho According to a French legend, the king fisher got is beautiful colours when Noah sent him away fromt the Ark to look for land. But because of a heavy strom, the kingfisher had to fly higher than the sun and thus its upper side took the colour of the blue sky and while the heat of the sun turned its belly red!
Amazing how you both echoed each other! 😃@TheWildEcho @Mugin16

A Giant Haast's eagle attacking moas in New Zealand. The Giant Haast's eagles were the biggest eagles that ever existed. Fossils of moas show the mark of their claws. I have seen some of these bones with claw marks at the National Musem in Wellington when I visited New Zealand. So scientists could prove that they really attacked moas and this drawing is not just a fantasy.

Some scientists even speculate that when the Maoris arrived in New Zealand, the Giant Haast's eagles attacked them too. Sadly, the Maoris hunted the moas to exstinction and without their main prey the eagles died out too.

Barn owls have such beautiful feathers ! We have some barns where they nest . Completely silent flight
TheWildEcho · 61-69, M
@TexChik you are so lucky having them nesting
TexChik · F
@TheWildEcho They eat a ton of rats !!! Their pellets mound up pretty high at times . I had a nesting box on top of one of my deer blinds once for them... and - bunch of dang hornets built a nest in it ... and they were so aggressive I couldn’t hunt it
UncleJlovesbrazil · 61-69, M
He's beautiful but I prefer the cardinal and the American bald Eagle, a symbol of the United States and Christian patients and grace! Isa, 40:31

The Robin
cheeky little birds but they hang around when I'm in the garden, waiting for me to turn over the soil so they can eat any worms.

Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@TheWildEcho Oh my Mother spends ages just watching from her armchair.
I bought a couple of bird baths too. They get a bit crazy this time of year. All the adults bringing their babes down for a bath !
Good stuff.
