I got my baby cat and her sadly passed away littermate from a place known as Pet Rescue By Judy 18 years ago as of next month. She is showing her age now, but not a day passes that she doesn't show her love. (That's her in my pfp)

Both of my recent cats were second hand rescues...adoptions from NEED.

I adopted the first cat, which had been rescued from feral cat life by one of my clients FIRST.

When my client was sent to a nursing home, the cat was so old that no shelter would take him. I didn't even want a cat at the time...and had to pay apartment management a fee so that I could take him in.

When my first cat, Oscar, passed away, I missed him so terribly I wanted another cat to love...so I adopted Scout.

HE had been rescued by a vet from a kill shelter in New York, and she had an adoption day. I drove three hours to attend the adoption day...and my little boy Scout was there...six years old, and no one else wanted him. He had been a stray in his previous life.

I loved him VERY much. He was my "baby".

@4meAndyou More people should be like you. Dear little Scout, you were both meant to be. ♥

@coffeebycandlelight Thank you. I loved him very much.
Yes, I went to a shelter that was overflowing with kittens, and saw a big, fluffy orange cat who was chirping (not meowing) at everyone who passed by her cage. People were choosing kittens, and my friend commented, nobody’s going to adopt that huge adult cat. The cat had golden eyes, and she chirped at me, then put a paw through the bars. A shelter worker gave me a discount on the adoption fee, and I took her home. I really got a bargain in every way—she was 2 when I adopted her and she lived with me for 14 more years. I couldn’t have found a sweeter cat. 🥹😸

All of my animals have been rescues & strays, the unwanted. I accumulated a lot considering I worked in the field.
My hubby has always supported the idea & loved them. Last year he wanted to buy one and I cringed.

@moonlightlullaby I agree, why buy one when there are so many who need to loved and cared for after being lost of abandoned. We need more people like you.

@coffeebycandlelight Aww thanks but you're doing your share too. Even this post of yours can plant a seed🤗

Yes! Of 3 cats one was born in my yard the other 2 are rescues. My dog was rescued from a puppy mill he is extremely loyal and a talker.
NocturnalTide · 46-50, M
Yes. He was malnourished and his fur was unkempt. It took a while for him to trust a stranger, but such a loveable soul he is.
coffeebycandlelight · 56-60, FNew
@NocturnalTide All strays need a loving owner like you.

Absolutely. Form the Humane Society. She was a couple of weeks old, or same day she was allowed to leave post surgery. She now rules the house.
Rambler · 61-69, M
Yes he was. His family moved when he was a kitten and left him alone in the empty house. Fortunately a neighbor noticed him.

I dont know if you can call it a rescue, my cat just kind of showed up and moved in.
Yes, she was like nine months old when I got her and the kitten mill where she was born had already tried to breed her. Now she sleeps all day while I paint things like this for her

coffeebycandlelight · 56-60, FNew
@Tumbleweed A great 'buy' then!
Tumbleweed · F
@coffeebycandlelight He was the smallest one in the litter, the one who stayed in the corner away from the others & the only orange one. So I felt like we were meant to be!!

@Atlotto Oh, poor baby. Good that you found her! I was reading yesterday that so many more animals are being abandoned. I feel it has a lot to do with the cost of living, families finding it hard to feed themselves never mind their pets.
