My dog passed almost 9 years ago. I still go out in the backyard to talk to him. I don't know if that's healthy either but it makes me feel better when I need to.

@GerOttman even when gone, they never stop being your best friend. I understand why you talk to him. He probably brought you lots of comfort in his time on this earth. I dread losing my dog…that’s certainly gonna break me. Hugs to you.

"Is it healthy that I quickly began making changes to the office, and went as far as telling my significant other to hide his bed while I was sleeping?"

We all deal with grief differently, and even grieve pet losses differently from each other.

We just suddenly lost our 6 month old kitten last week and this grief hit me so much harder than the last cat we said goodbye to after 14 years a couple summers ago.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I hope you find peace soon.

Perhaps donate the bed to a closeby shelter/rescue in his memory?

@Starcrossed that’s an idea, but we haven’t made a decision yet. And yes, you’re right that everyone grieves pets differently. Also, sorry for the loss of the kitten 😞

I'm sorry. Everyone grieves differently. I didn't read this and think it to be anything unhealthy. Hope those feelings will ease as time passes.
It has only been about a month. Grief has no deadline. You make changes for your health and peace of mind. When you are ready, get a new cat. Your other cat likes a friend. You have a lot of love. Losing him so fast shocked you. Be kind to yourself. Lots of pets need good homes. Polar bear hugggggggggsssss.

Some rearrange after the passing of a loved one, others turn a room into a memorial.
We all cope differently. ❤

I agree with the other respondents, what is healthy is different for everyone.

My Dolly keeps getting these UTIs, and I'm worried that it is going to turn into something more sinister. I'm so sorry about your kitty. I cannot imagine my life without Dolly
