I'll be fine and able to put it out of my head, bc my cat is just laying there like she always has, a kitty loaf sweetie..and then, just now, I see

her licking her tumor and it is bleeding. She has been sticking to mostly one comforter and it rarely oozes, so maybe I am an idiot..but I didn't want her uncomfy in her final days..and didn't want to put her in a diaper. She isn't lethargic, and she is eating and drinking, seemingly in no pain..so sometimes I can dissociate and fool myself, but I am going to have to put her down. I don't know if I can do this on my own y'all 😭😭😭

Is it possible to get a home visit when the time comes? The only thing that made it bearable for me was doing it that way.

It's a hideous thing to need to do however it's done but at least if you can get it done at home it's easier for her. Might be worth asking your vet if they'll do a home visit.

@foldedunfolding honestly I wanted to recommend this too but I hadn't yet worked out how to bring it up.

We had to put our old lady kitty down a couple summers ago, and the kitten we lost in March- both were at the vet office and I really truly wish I'd have had someone come in to our home, no matter how much it cost. Both kitties got a little stressed just going in the car to the vet and I wish I could have avoided it. If I had to do it over and someday hopefully in the the distant future when I have to say goodbye to our current kitties, I'm going to have a home service. A girlfriend has done it with her dog and cat and it was far less stressful for all of them.

According to my friend, her home service wasn't much more cost at all.

**sending my love no matter how it goes down for you**

It is one the hardest decisions to make. My boy was i thought doing wonderfully. In no pain. Suddenly. Thought I had time. It turned and and it was horrifying. I hate myself for waiting. Wish i had taken him day before to be put down. Not saying this to be cruel. You know i love you. I just don't want to see you go through what i did
foldedunfolding · 41-45, F
@Bexsy aww that breaks my heart for you. thank you, no, i needed to hear that for sure!!!!!!!
You have the cruelest of decisions to make and I am so sorry about that. She’s always trusted you to give her the best care just as you are now. So listen to your heart, hold your true friend close, envelop her with all your love and when you’re able, say your goodbyes, remembering that while she’ll be passing from the physical world, she will remain a part of you forever. ❤️

@OlderSometimesWiser thank you so much for the compassionate words, as always. I am definitely getting pics and vids as I can, and we totally gazed into each others' eyes for full minutes straight last night. I love that little girl, and at least I know she loves me.

You’re sharing your heart and I’m so glad we are here to hold it for you. Our fur babies are our souls. We are their voices-it’s one of the million gifts they bestowed on us.

I know from experience that you will be able to be with her the entire time and will, eventually, see it as the most precious moment you will have ever shared with her.
foldedunfolding · 41-45, F
@FlowersInHerHair awww thank you so much for this. I love that i get to translate her lack of a voice into something with SOUND, and proclaim her legendary status to everyone i know. what an HONOR.

Anyone who tells you it isn't that big of a deal or you're being dramatic has no heart. Fur babies are family period. Give that cat all the love and joy she can handle while you can. I'm here if you need to vent. We got this.
Beaker4444 · 46-50, M
@foldedunfolding Exactly what I mean. That fur baby has been there unconditionally for how long... most likely you can't say that about a lot of people who you thought were good friends. That's the reason fur babies are so special.
foldedunfolding · 41-45, F
@Beaker4444 yeah dude absolutely this is the worst decision to have to make. i found a spot of blood as i was cleaning my floors today..went ahead and ordered some preemie diapers like the vet tech said i could..just need to change 2x a day and make sure to clean her 🥺🥺
Beaker4444 · 46-50, M
@foldedunfolding Aww. The poor baby. I know it has to be so hard for you to deal with. Just keep doing the best you can for both of you.

We had a kitty from just before I was born and she died when I was 19 so she was almost 21. At the end she developed a cancerous tumor and we went through the same thing. You’ll know when it’s time. I’m so sorry for what you’re going through. Many many hugs.
