Let’s talk about our pet traumas, one time I came home from school and saw my pet parakeet dead in the trash.

Your turn.

I had a cat bring all of her dead kittens and place them in my bed while I was sleeping.

@Mindful you can't say that winning 1 out of 8.4 billion people is easy doing it like winning one coin flip at a time. That is like trying to turn over a new Chevy 350 crate motor by the flywheel by hand and I still think that what I have is right and stomp the bad people to the damn dirt out of here 😡.

@AzAZ09223 I'm not smart enough to understand your game. But it sounds like you must be good at it.
My daughter's first pet, a goldfish, was buried in our garden.

A few days later a fox dug it up and it was spread across the steps.

I shared my Sweetarts candy with my hamster when I was 12. Next time I looked at him he was dead.
After my grandad died . The policeman neighbour who was teaching my gran to drive, ran over the family dog when coming to take her for a lesson 🐕🙆‍♂.
Nice of him to see himself out

My parents killed my pet and cooked it for dinner.

I didn't know. They served it to me with rice.

And they laughed after I was done.
Miram · 31-35, F
@passingby8 I am sorry you lost yours too. Love doesn't have to be so painful

@Miram sorry you grew up like that
i don't normally get pets bc back when i was a foster kid, when i would move homes.. after having let me raise the pet from a baby, pay for the vet bills, including shots, having it fixed etc, they would NOT let me keep it.

so i ended up finally having another lil kitty and i left her where i movedd from to be looked after which they did a good job of, but the new neighbors kept luring the cats over with treats and stuff bc they though they were cute and mine was very tiny and shy bc she was a runt when she was born.

One night their daughter accidentally ran over her hind legs and tail so they volunteered to pay the vet bills but i wasn't able to be there bc i live across town and into a different city now. She had to be put down and the vet gave her a little kitty coffin. There was so way to save her, she was in pain and too injured and i told them i didn't want her to suffer. i told my person when we get married i might want a cat but now that i think of it i'm kind of scared to...🥺

@DancingStarGoddess you have control over your life now, I think it’s safe.

Being a foster child, everything is unpredictable and nothing feels permanent and you were young.

It’s all you now baby. And I hate that they didn’t let you keep your pet after everything 😩
@Cremosa Oh i know, it just gave me an aversion to it. then my little kitty dying last year kinda gave me the blues
Cremosa · F
@DancingStarGoddess I get it. I never was into having my own pet after we got kittens, my mom didn’t tell my dad about it, she sort of surprised him lol she loves cats.

He hated them and we had to give them away.

And then we eventually got a “special” one for free. Idk why they called him special. maybe he was a little awkward but when he warmed up he was adorable.

My dad let us keep him because he eventually became an outside cat and He wasn’t meowing at the door like the last two we had lol. And then eventually my parents divorced and my dad sold the house and we couldn’t take him.

I told the little girl who moved to take care of him. She was about my age and when I went back to check how he was doing the girl said her mother told her she wasn’t allowed to feed him anymore and that he ran away.

I’ve also watched other family members get excited about new pets just to see them give them away when the novelty wore off.

I stopped wanting any. But one day after a grocery store run we had a kitten come running up to me and my sister and it followed us.

I thought it was cute and all but it smelled like shit and I remember telling my sister to put her back outside 😂 and she refused so I said if she wanted to keep her she’d have to be responsible for bathing her and the litter box.

We had a deal, and tell me why HER cat likes me more.

I never chose the pet life, the pet life chose me.

A police officer shot my dog.

Haaaaaaaaan. Once, I bought a kitten away from his family and when I wasnt ready to take care of him, i asked my friend to pick him up and keep him because he wanted a cat.

Took him away from his happy family.

And then, I was stuck in a hospital for two weeks. Locked up.

NEVER AGAIN 🙏🙏

The game that I played that is right and I held onto it. It is if the game needle lands on 46 your call was 100 to 51 and you would have a 50/50 or more win because the needle gives you the wins at the same time and for the wins to be first they can't be because they stopped there at the same time so it is up to you to pick what you want 14 hrs 35 min ago. I had a good game to overthrow everyone for power and I played it 1 of 31 one was my highest and won it on the first prob important try for the first try for the first time this way 14 hrs 30 min ago I shuffled up these like 4 in tall glass bottles up around and around in my hands to the bed with these gloves on till I lost where they were at and won on my second attempt. I had 8 memorized from the keyboard and I looked at it after I played and I am going to write down the details here in a minute with pen and paper. I am 27 yrs old. You can't debunk this out as being wrong. Allow me to be your liberator. 30 was one 50/50 win and 29 was an unlimited amount of wins in a row. I felt the bottles and they were so level you couldn't tell them apart.they had the caps on normally tight. I shuffled the bottles up for like 2 minutes each. I cleaned them off before I played with them.
We’d just gotten home from vacation and my dad went to the kennel to pick up our beloved collie shepherd Dutchess. Beloved as in she’d sit out on the lawn each day to wait for me to get home from school.

Dad came home with a different dog. Dutchess had died while in the kennel. He thought replacing her was the way to go. We made him return that other dog right away.

I don't see it as trauma but when I was 3-4 we had an aquarium with fish, I barely remember it but my parents told us one ate another because we (kids) didn't feed them. My brother was 5-6. 😐
@CrazyMusicLover omg 🤦‍♂. lol

Ok these are sad posts but...not a pet cat but a stray kitten was devoured in backyard by an animal. I don't look around my backyard no more 🫣
There was a family in my dad’s church who had four children when we met them. The kids were four, two and then baby twins, boy and girl. The parents were … different. The father, professor of biology, voiced his parenting policy. “Just put ‘em down and let ‘em graze.”

The baby girl was three when she came to church on Sunday, wearing a baby chick on a cord around her neck. It was dead. The parents explained that the little girl was overcome with sweet emotion and “loved it to death.” In their opinion, she needed to be taught the fine line between affection and death and made her wear it for several days.

I don’t know if she was traumatized, but the rest of us were. Dad, in a little pastoral talk with the parents, suggested there might be better ways of teaching compassion, and that making the killer wear the victim was too harsh and she couldn’t wear it to church.

@Mamapolo2016 thats sick and twisted
@passingby8 Yes. A week or so after that Children’s Services stepped in and I believe at least some things changed. I think Dad called them.

That was about 60 years ago. Things were different.

My last dog was old, as in 16 and he always went with me on car rides. One Monday afternoon we went for a ride down to a riverfront park and he just sort of moped around and softly whined all the way there, but perked up when we stopped at the park for a walk.

On the way home he was tired and the whines started again, then he crawled across the console, laid his head on my lap and as I drove down the road he passed over the rainbow bridge.

I'm not the type to keep a pet. I'm around animals all the time because I'm in the wilds so much. Sometimes animals ignore me to for some reason. I've had times when they won't even move out of my way so I can work. There's some lizard or mouse that just sits there when I'm trying to hoe weeds or move my truck. I've had to pick the little bastards up and move them. Thank God it's not antelopes or something doing this.

@Munumbis How bout a giraffe!
There you are working on whatever it is you do, when you feel a tap on your shoulder and hear..
"Hey there Chief, how's it hanging?"
And when you turn around, there it is! A tall ass mother lover giraffe!!
Munumbis · 46-50, M
@CurrentName At some point I could go full PT Barnum and sell tickets.

Our beagle was hit by a car as we watched. He wasn't badly hurt, but ran into the culvert under our driveway and wouldn't come out. My shoulders were too wide to get into the culvert, but my small wife, who was pregnant, fit fine. She crawled in and grabbed the dog's feet, and I pulled her out by her ankles. The vet sewed up the dog, and everybody was fine.
