This may sound harsh, But I adopted an old three-legged black lab that was dropped off on my farm by unknown person(s). It acted fine for a couple of weeks, then one day I walked out of my home and watched it attack and kill a chicken I had, then another one after that and then a third before I could stop it. Needless to say it was his last day moments on earth.
Then two weeks later I found out that the same dog had mauled a 9-year-old boy two counties away from my farm when the ass hole who dropped it off at my farm originally showed up in person with papers from the court and humane society demanding the dog be put down. I walked the ass to where I buried the dog and said dig it up and take it with you if you so desire. I gave the idiot a signed note I had it put down with my address and phone number to give to the court. The court staff called me a week later to want to schedule coming out to see if it was really done. I said bring a shovel and since the thing has been in the ground for a month bring masks for the Oder and that somebody needs to reimburse me for my livestock losses, so bring a check book too. Then they said they would consider the case closed and no need to come out.
So, once a dog attacks or kills and learns it can and gets away with it, it will do it again, and I would tell your friend not to bring a new dog home with her, so it won't get killed.

@WillaKissing I think you did what you had to do. Who knows what the dog would have done to you when he was done with the chickens.
WillaKissing · 56-60
@Thandeka Thank you, and yes you are right, or say I had friends with small children visit me on my farm.
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
Oh this is so sad.Ive never witnessed that. I know that i would have jumped in.I dont like seeing dog fights. Poorthing. Sorry about your friend.
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
@Thandeka I cant help it. I dont like seing it.
Thandeka · 31-35, F
@Eddiesolds I think it's different for guys than it is for girls. She wouldn't have survived it if she'd tried stopping the fight.
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
@Thandeka I feel for your friend. That must have been so horrible to warch and not beng able to do anything..Its so sad. I just go in and hope for the best.I have broken up a few. Its such a relief. You have a wonderful day over there. Hug you're friend for me. Thankyou!

NEVER, thank goodness. How awful and traumatic. I saw my neighbor's dog kill a kitten and that was terrible enough. None of my dogs have been killers, I train them out of any prey instinct they may have.
IWasCallingYaLarry · 26-30, M
Yeah I'd have no choice but to put down my dog if my dog did that to another animal.
Torsten · 36-40, M
I had two dogs at one stage that would always fight because one was super jealous and was a lot bigger than the other. I would always step in and not let that shit fly. Soon enough that dog learnt not to do that.
I couldnt stand by and watch a dog kill another one

I had two Chow mixes that got into a horrible fight, I got in the middle, and took most
of the abuse. I went to the emergency room after things calmed down. The dogs were
ok.

Every action and inaction we take in life comes with a responsibility, being aware is the key to avoiding bad things happening for us and others.
ShaneMckay · 41-45, M
Do you mean have I ever shot a dog trying to kill my dog?
Thandeka · 31-35, F
@ShaneMckay Have you 😮?
TurtleEclipseOfTheHeart · 22-25, F
this is what i get for being up this early 😖😭
Thandeka · 31-35, F
@TurtleEclipseOfTheHeart Sorry 😊.
ImRileyTheDog · 22-25, F
Oh geez that’s awful😔
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
I haven't but that's terribly sad. How long were ziya and sniper related for?
Morvoren · F
Wow. What breed of dogs were they?
IWasCallingYaLarry · 26-30, M
@Morvoren my guess is either pitbull or german shepard.
Lilymoon · F
No. Why didn't she help the dog? 🤦♀️
bijouxbroussard · F
I can’t even imagine how awful that would be. How can she ever trust Ziya after that ? And poor Sniper deserved to be protected. If Ziya had killed someone else’s dog here there’s a chance she would’ve been classified as a "dangerous animal" by authorities and put down. 🥺
Thandeka · 31-35, F
@bijouxbroussard I couldn't agree with you more. I don't feel okay with the dog being around my friend and her family after this.
Lilnonames · F
I would kill that dog because it might try kill her
IWasCallingYaLarry · 26-30, M
@Lilnonames Exactly. Have to do it the humane way. Put down the dog because he's a danger to others around him. Can't take the risk.
WillaKissing · 56-60
@Lilnonames Or any new dog you bring home, once it learns it can kill, it will do it again.
Thandeka · 31-35, F
@Lilnonames I don't even want to even think like that. My friend says she's not that close with Ziya because he's been a bit off since he became a big dog.
