Shyness isn't really a bad thing. It's kinda cute

Any anxiety is an adverse fear of the unknown. Social anxiety is no different but can be very debilitating. However, there are self-help books and very good YouTube channels (as long as they are by a registered phycologist). My phycologist said most people really are in their own world. In school kids and teenagers are judgmental and bully over the slightest thing. In the adult world nobody really notices or analyses too much, they are mature, busy, have to balance their time. So, the test he told me to do was to go to a store, pic something off the shelf and drop it on purpose, like a can of beans or something. Then see how many shoppers in the store notice. Probably no one and if they did, they are more likely to pick it up for you, than judge you. I.e. it's not as big a deal as you fear. The only true way to deal with SA is to keep pushing and learning and know mistakes are normal part of learning that everyone experiences. Your journey will hit some bumps but start with baby steps and drop a can of beans in the store. 👍

I feel myself going red when I talk to people too, it’s horrible and so embarrassing but I think it happens to a lot of people.

Here is what you need to do...

1. Approach each interaction as a literal training session. Have an objective for each session. These objectives should be identified in advance. For example, it might be something as simple as just saying hello to someone (that's it).

2. After each interaction critically assess how you did and find at least 3 things you can correct.

3. Move on to the next interaction with the intention of making those corrections.

You will seem a bit robotic, and each interaction will never be perfect. But that's the idea. The interactions are training sessions.

@BlueVeins oh not at all!! i had just not replied as i went back to the wedding. i take medication that helps with anxiety in some ways, it just doesn't so much help with the social side of things 🥲
@Frostcloud no need to. It's absolutely normal and it's cute
