I take criticism like I take my tequila shots straight up, no sugarcoating, and with a willingness to face the burn 🤣
ScreamingFox · 41-45, F
My ego is tamed. I don't get much criticism or negative feedback but if I do I just take it and make sure I'm doing better. Mistakes happen, not everyone likes you, most people understand that. I'm harder on myself than anyone is of me.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
I don't snap - I simply shut it down. I have had enough of that in my life, and I no longer tolerate it. Positive and well-intentioned critique is quite another. We can all learn from positive suggestions if we are open-minded enough to give it some thought.

In the past, I was married to an abusive man. While the criticism wasn't constant, it was frequent and VERY often unjustified or cruel. So I would say it depends ENTIRELY on the critic.
subhubby · 56-60, M
I accept all criticism and scolding from my wife. This helps me get better to serve and meet her needs. I also accept criticism very well from ladies at work. We have many ladies leading at my company .
I take criticism well if the tone is right. I’m willing to learn.
But if it sounds malicious I’m not taking it so well

I take everything okay as long as someone else's ego is trying to totally ruin my feelings in their also harsh delivery, and then, I'll just cry. Don't think there's an egotistical bone in my body anymore, to be honest.
How about you?
How about you?

@moonlightlullaby I try to listen and see if this is going to improve me, so i take it, if it includes misinformation or an accusation then I do respond back. I am far more patient now than ever. Sometimes it falls on my slipry skin or deff ears and becomes a history.
moonlightlullaby · 46-50, F
@Fieldmaster Yeah, I don't mind growing up a little at the advice of another person; respectfully
helenS · 36-40, F
I do not accept criticism from other women (my sister is the only exception) – I may be too competitive perhaps.
When a man is going to criticize me I start listening carefully.

@Lostlostlost We are so extremely different. We are Yin and Yang. Each would be incomplete without the other.
Fieldmaster · 46-50, M
@helenS wow, why not women? And except your sister? That is a very unique one, and why only from men?

It really depends on the delivery of criticism. If it is simply given to get my goat, I'm probably not going to take it well. If it is in earnest, I'm more than willing to listen.
Fieldmaster · 46-50, M
@FoxyQueen Right!, makes sense.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
It has ruined my life. 🙈😅 I took criticism way too personally and seriously at times when it was very important for me to learn from it and grow.

I don't have much of a ego and I never stand up for myself. I don't think I've ever snapped back at anyone
nedkelly · 61-69, M
When I was working I had a good ego, as I was able to help people and get things done, when other financial counsellors were too lazy to help them
SlippingAway · 46-50, F
Maybe some of both. I try not to let my ego run the show
Fieldmaster · 46-50, M
@SlippingAway Me too, i do my best. I can slip here and threre.
SlippingAway · 46-50, F
@Fieldmaster I think that's just human nature to slip every once in a while
Fieldmaster · 46-50, M
@SlippingAway Right, true!

Over the years, I’ve gotten better at listening to the message rather than the delivery. If the message is something I can use, I’m good. If the message is for sh!t, then that’s when I’ll react.
And if the deliverer is someone I don’t respect, idgaf

@Fieldmaster baseless. Just saying things to sound superior. Of little to no value.
Shybutwilling2bfriends · 61-69
I dont snap back
Is the criticism meant to be constructive or destructive? I will respond accordingly.
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
How to tell the difference between ego and self-esteem?
Fieldmaster · 46-50, M
@Ferise1 interesting question, let's ask chat gpt.
