This is what I don’t understand

Why act?
It's easier to act then to bring real change in yourself.

Everyone eventually finds out
They don't believe it. They think they are smarter.

Well because they're manipulators and think that the people that end up falling in their traps are stupid or, they enjoy seeing the vulnerabilities of someone and taking advantage of them

Or worse ...they pretend to act like a jerk,then they pretend to be nice posing as a jerk and then actually are a jerk ...

I’ve figured it’s because no one would like them at all if they didn’t manipulate them into believing them. That short burst is enough to boost the ego and then they don’t care what happens. I also think some people don’t even realize they’re doing it.

Sure, and I imagine so has everyone else. It's, I think, that they know very well how off-putting the real self they are is and they prey upon people's naiveness to get close to them before they reveal who they are. I'm not even sure they always know they are doing it, but for some I know it's a calculated plan, or they just don't care that they are manipulating people.

I know someone who turns like a leaf in the wind. Whenever they reveal that part of themselves, I wonder why do they do that. Is that a threat? Are you warning me to watch out for you? Are you seeking sympathy? Are you testing me how will I react? Did you misjudge me as someone who will approve of this as your kindred spirit?

I've no idea. I can't think of an example myself (thankfully) but I've read of some stories of people's exes.. that essentially became exes because of this, ugh

They're broken damaged people, maybe they are trying to be better but they keep on messing up
