Yeah, I had to learn them when I went to school in New York, and I am still in therapy because of it.
Are they going nuts because it's a "policy" that doesn't do anything at all?

@NerdyPotato I think that's satire, fella.
@SumTingWong, @SW-User I know, I wrote it. But as you feel the need to point this out, it must not have been clear: I know they would go nuts because they are against anything Arabic, even if they don't know what Arabic numerals are.

Honestly, satire these days mimics reality so well that it wouldn't surprise me if this were true...

@HootyTheNightOwl wait until you find out that the number we are currently using are Arabic
@Julien Oh... I know exactly what Arabic numerals are - just like I know what Roman numerals are.

Interesting, since i think Arabic numbers originally came from India?
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@Julien Did a quick search... "Arabic numerals" (0-9) originated in ancient India around the 6th century. They were spread to the Western world through Arab mathematicians who adopted and transmitted the system, which is why they were named "Arabic" in Europe, though they are also called Hindu-Arabic numerals.
Indian origin: The number system was first developed in India, along with the concept of the digit zero.
Spread by Arabs: Arab mathematicians introduced the system to Europe. Persian scholars also played a role in spreading it to other regions.
European adoption: Europeans encountered the system through Arab intermediaries and adopted it, leading to the name "Arabic numerals".

@ChipmunkErnie thank you 😊
SirAhmed · 31-35, M
@ChipmunkErnie Indians numbers didn't have the Zero. The Arabs added that later and invented the concept of Zero
