I understand how you feel.
I too went through a stage of having to dumb down my vocabulary as many people thought I was trying to show superiority over them.
I am no intellect, I just enjoyed reading dictionaries and doing crossword puzzles. So there are many words in my head.
I eventually decided not to simplify my vocab.
Just yesterday a person thanked me because they learned a new word which I had used. Perambulation

@dianekrivera5525 That is a great idea. Being around like minded people, those wanting to learn, is a good way to make friendships. I hope it works out for you

@Gusman me too because I don't like a ring dumb just to fit in
dianekrivera5525 · 36-40, FNew
@Gusman I'm thinking about writing an philosophical thesis on a topic I call knowledge as its pertaining to the opinions of familia philosophers Socrates, and Descartes

Dumbing down is a valid concept, but it’s a fool’s errand. The gift in life is learning from everyone. There’s just so much to learn. IQ doesn’t measure, for example, potential or desire. It certainly doesn’t measure success either. It’s simply a flawed yardstick, as:
There’s always a kinder perspective.
There’s always a better athlete.
There’s always someone smarter.
The empath feels more.
The flirt is more socially adept…
Some see the best path while others see the roses along the way.
It doesn’t matter how many standard deviations you are from the average because you’ve never described a friend or companion as ‘average’. The adjectives used would always be about what makes them special.
Ergo, the gift isn’t IQ. It’s leveraging it to be fulfilled. For that, you need others. They’re THE key ingredient. They’re the key to happiness.
Plus, the real measure in life isn’t IQ. It’s love, and that’s shareable.

This site attracts intelligent people, even though they don’t always show it!

@dianekrivera5525 Don't take that as a model for your own behavior.
Lostlostlost · 51-55, M

I would suggest to not take pride over your iq, as you are still relying on 2nd hand information of books written by someone in the past. Encyclopedia is for reference and not knowledge. Intellect is in how you interpret what you read as otherwise it contributes to blind beliefs .. Your iq can become your firewall preventing truth to reach you.

Don't hide your brains, be proud of them -- just don't treat other people as inferior.
dianekrivera5525 · 36-40, FNew
@ChipmunkErnie I felt so much worse about being intelligent when I was younger I would not think I was anything unique and still dont but I'm now I'm beginning to wonder. There is something different about me that has been so wrong I'm trying to accept. I'm smarter then my family and it makes it really hard to relate to them especially my sisters
dianekrivera5525 · 36-40, FNew
@ChipmunkErnie they see me as weird.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@dianekrivera5525 That's their problem.
Don't dumb yourself down.
dianekrivera5525 · 36-40, FNew
@Husher it was the only way I thought I could fit in and not feel so different
dianekrivera5525 · 36-40, FNew
@Husher I'm thinking about going back to school to take philosophy classes
@dianekrivera5525 do what's best for you, remember that
