Totally understand. My sis has said the same, she's a senior police officer so very focused on her career and says she doesn't want kids. Her hub is totally onboard with her.

Mother and father say oh you'll change your mind. She absolutely won't. Fair play to her, she wasn't only put on this earth to have kids. I (male) am the same, no interest in kids and my partner is on board with that

A friend of my in university used to have these same complaints. She's now pregnant with her fourth....

Nah, she's still child free at 40 and happy about her choices.

People have been trying to pressure 'have a family' conformity into people forever and women so it get much much more heavily and directly.

Good for you: go with what you want, not what others expect you to do because that's what they did.

I know that "selfish" charge is or used to be fairly common, but I never read or heard any convincing reason why.

I didn’t change my mind. I grew up wanting to do things I never got to do bc my parents were too busy and too poor prob bc of us. I hear people complain about their kids all the time. I work with kids everyday and I’m happy to come home to a peaceful clean home.

Anyway, no kid would want me for a parent anyway. I wouldn’t make a good parent.
I definitely understand you.
What I’ve never understood is why other people care when someone who knows they don’t want children makes the conscious decision not to have them.

That certainly makes more sense than those who allow themselves to be pressured by people who won’t be paying for or raising those children.

They say that because it happens a lot but the fact is that they can't know that about you. You might you might not. Another one is "you'll regret not having kids one day." I might or might not. Who cares? Lol. If then it'll be my problem, not theirs.

If you are really the age you put down, youre young. You cant really say what you will want in the future.
People change and many who dont want kids when theyre young, regret it later on in life.
Not saying you will but just people change and as you get older your wants and needs change
Katiecunn12 · 18-21, F
@Torsten yea i understand that but people are so adamant that i’ll change my mind like they know it for a fact cos they think people have to have kids n that everyone has to want them
YoMomma · 41-45
Yeah not everyone has too.. and some people shouldn't 😤 but they are lovely sometimes in the proper situation.. the best of life really..
PHlover19701 · 56-60, M
Some do change their minds and some dont. Nothing wrong with either path. Everyone needs to whats right for themselves...not worry about anyone else...and others need to accept it.
Not everyone should have kids. Not everyone wants that kind of responsibility. Kudos to you for recognizing that.
pdockal · 56-60, M
It's rare for somebody so young to understand about absolute decisions @ your age
The majority change their mind no matter how adamant they are any their decision
But only time will tell
