Any properly managed apartment complex would send you a notice that someone would be calling. The bad ones wouldn't waste money inspecting them to begin with.

Call the management of your complex and notify them.

Call the actual building manager and try to confirm and when they likely and obviously tell you “no. Wasn’t us.” Make a small grievance about lack of security and your safety, and then call police and report the incident while giving a description of the individual.
