Fireball in the sky

So today around lunch I witnessed what can only be described as a very weird 'rumble' from above that seemed to go on for more than a solid minute. Sounded like thunder but just kept rolling on. No break like typical thunder. Blue skies for as far as the eye could see. Thought perhaps a plane or helicopter. Shrugged my shoulders and went about my day.
Well now I am hearing that supposedly it was possibly a meteor that came down. 😧
Any of my other SE friends experience this??

From what I've read meteors or fireballs (actually the same thing) can cause rumbling sounds or sonic booms or both.

I was on a lake fishing about dusk one evening and a fireball went over from horizon to horizon directly overhead. But I never heard any sound.

Where are you? Good luck calling NASA. When the meteor was the big deal months ago, I photographed something coming/going in the wrong direction. It turns out that it was a ticket launched from SpaceEx.

I heard it was a meteor entering. But so cool you hard and saw it

I just googled it, CBS reported a meteor sighting in Georgia and S Carolina.

I was wondering if you saw or felt it.
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
Nope nothing like that here. It wasn’t another SpaceX explosion I hope.

@Ambroseguy80 Had I seen the so called 'fireball' I would have thought the same. But not seeing anything and just hearing the odd 'rumbling' was a bit strange. It even rattled the house.
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
@skmokisses yeah. And there were no earthquakes, correct?
skmokisses · 46-50, F
@Ambroseguy80 Correct. There has been no evidence of any earthquake activity. However, they are saying GLM (Geostationary Lightening Mapper) did pick up on the flash of the alleged meteor.

Saw this on the news earlier. Interesting 😊

@Teslin It was very strange!

I saw a 2min NBC bit about it…the entirety of the report could be summed up with “So, yeah, that fireball happened. 🤷‍♂”

Enemy test missile?

@samueltyler2 idk but news always tries to downplay stuff so as not to freak out the population
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@YoMomma or embellish it to sell papers or clicks.
