many people will say "no" because there is no evidence to support that and not realize the irony of how many far fetched ideas they have that lack evidence too.
those beliefs can be anything from astrology, to a belief in god or that an afterlife exits which by coincidence also lacks supporting evidence and when drilling into specifics has evidence of a mutually exclusive model
as an atheist I will sometimes in real life ask a person if they think the earth is flat, and when they say "no" and offer up that there is no evidence the next question is
why do you think their is a god (or afterlife ) then?
It is somewhat sad to see in a rapidly accelerating data driven word how often belief trumps evidence and lack of evidence seems often to not only not be adeterrent but not even a hiccup to a subscrition to many ideas people hold..

@robertsnj those aren't exactly the same. It's not just that there is no evidence of the earth being flat, but also that there is evidence of it being spherical.
With religion there is no evidence that it isn't real, other than that it is completely illogical and needs a little more proof than "a book said so".
