We are the only species on the planet that have to pay to live on it...

Just sayin'馃
HannibalAteMeOut22-25, F
Well we're the species that bases everything on property and ownership.

@basilfawlty89 my point is our system in a lot of ways is better.
Food, shelter and sanitation sounds good to say its a basic human right, but everything else on the planet basically fights for those things. The strong survive and the weak dont sadly
HannibalAteMeOut22-25, F
@Torsten when I say property I mean the big kind. Of course some animals want to have a place they can find shelter in and food to survive. That was us when we were living in caves too. But I won't call a cave "property". As humans we are hyper conscious of our belongings. We see a mere tree and think of profit. I don't think the other animals place such importance on it. And that's how we evolved into a society with money. Do you think we would need money if we didn't love having property?
Torsten36-40, M
@HannibalAteMeOut I get what you're saying for sure. A lot of animals are very similar though with property or territory. A cave could very well be considered the property of certain animals .
The tree for profit not so much with animals and I do get what you're saying. Just repeating that to make it clear but i think we have so much more in common with animals compared to what some people would like to believe
We allow other ppl to charge us to live on it..

It's very sad. Properties and money seem to be more important than human lives in todays world.
We created this mess ourselves. The day money was invented humanity took a dark path.

Have you read "Mutual aid: a factor of evolution" from Kropotkin? Great book

@SW-User I haven't, no, but I will look into it. I'm actually reading Sapiens at the moment, by Harari. And what you say makes sense, as usual :)

Well said... For the vast majority this is true.. A very small minority is still living a subsistence living in remote jungles but they are not even 1% of humanity..

We鈥檙e the only species that developed currency. You can not pay your taxes if your happy not to receive any income I suppose.
maybe ur next life can be an animal that's constantly fighting to avoid being eaten and having your home destroyed so a condo can be built over it

The homeless guy on the corner remains anonymous because he owes no taxes.
If he did he would suddenly be of importance.

@bleach It's in a section where he's talking about comforting his daughter after a nightmare woke her up, and he imagines a future world with no greed or violence or fear of death.

Here is the whole thing if you're interested.

Yep. Somewhere along the line, someone figured out how to be a top dog and make the rest of us work for our basic needs.
