You don’t have to get a majority of the popular vote to win, just a majority of electoral college votes. Trump got 312 out of 538 total, that’s a majority. No special election, and it doesn’t even go to the House and Senate. Unfortunately that’s it, Trump won.
Trump won get over it. You can twist it around in your simple little mind anyway you want but the fact is Trump won the popular vote, the electoral vote and he also won every swing state. Looks like a landslide win to me.
Per ncsl.org "Recounts are conducted after an election either automatically when the margin of victory for a race was narrow, or because someone (usually the losing candidate or their party) asks for a recount.
The laws governing recounts vary by state. In 24 states and Washington, D.C., recounts are automatically triggered if results are within a certain margin" . . . In general .5%
@eli1601 yea thanks but when he screamed it last time they actually did it. This time its even closer but death threats forced kamala to concede. So much for free and fair elections.
Some years ago, a woman in Britain was going on and on with me about how undemocratic the US is, because it is possible to become President without having won the national popular vote.
I pointed out that it is possible to become Prime Minister in the UK without the PM's party having won the popular vote. In fact, it did happen by a rather surprising margin in 1874. Disraeli's Conservatives won only 44.3% of the popular vote vs Gladstone's Liberals winning 52%, but the Conservatives won 350 seats in Parliament vs the Liberals' 242, so naturally Disraeli became PM.
