I have to say Regan, we suffered for the first couple of years once he got in, but we all seemd to do better when he was in office.
The country was united back then, he was a strong leader with class.
@Adrift Ask @beermeplease @Musicman @BizSuitStacy @WillaKissing or even @MarineBob who they think I support.

Wait a minute...

Where's Joe Biden...? 🤔

"Historians" ranked him as the 14th best president of all time, higher than Reagan or Wilson.

Of course, that was in February of 2024, when the "historians" thought he was going to run again, and wanted to give him a political campaign boost. 🤭

https://www.silive.com/news/2024/02/presidential-experts-rank-all-45-us-presidents-from-best-to-worst-where-did-biden-and-trump-place-on-the-list.html

@Theyitis

But the time interval is precisely the point. Surely, it should have been extended to 2024, to make possible the inclusion of such a highly-esteemed president as Joe Biden. Highly-esteemed, that is, by these presidential "experts," who placed him higher than Reagan and both Bushes, much higher in W's case.

The "experts" left no doubt about their estimation of the quality of Biden's opponent; they placed him dead last on their list.

Which leads to the obvious question: what was the quality of Trump's opponent in 2024 (after the powers that be dumped Biden) that she lost to such a perfectly awful former president? And what could those Dem power brokers have been thinking to dump such a marvelous incumbent president?

But Joe got the last laugh on those who dumped him.

@Thinkerbell joe is on the very bottom pushing obama up by one and carter by two

@MasterLee I agree !

Jimmy Carter was 1976.

Reagan was huge on building up the military. We had a 600 ship Navy about 50% larger than normal.
I think the funny thing about ronnie is that he tried to take credit for bringing down the Berlin Wall which Gorbachev did not ronnie.
Theyitis · 36-40, M
@Pfuzylogic Carter was president the entire year of 1980, although Reagan was elected in November of that year. Reagan took over in January of 1981.

I’m afraid Covid only (further) exposed Trump as an amateur to liberals like you and me. It seems like most everyone else figures Covid wasn’t Trump’s fault, so they give him a pass for it. How else do you explain voters rating Trump so high on the economy? Or Republicans asking, “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?”? If you stop and think about it, that should be an easy question, “Let’s see, four years ago I was trapped at home during a worldwide pandemic. I couldn’t go to work, I couldn’t travel, I had to wear a mask and social distance whenever I went out in public, etc. and the economy was in shambles. F*** yes I’m better off now than I was four years ago!!!” But people don’t count that or don’t hold it against Trump. And the maddening part is that they don’t similarly give Democrats a pass for the inflation that inevitably followed Covid. That’s the economy, the president’s supposed to be in control of the economy. That’s probably the biggest reason Trump’s headed back to the White House.
Pfuzylogic · M
@Theyitis You are quite right. I just remember being on the first part of my Active duty Navy then.
Reagan, W Bush and Trump…I look at it as our country going into conniption fits.

Ronald Reagan by far!!
@Carla Cinton's NAFTA/GATT sent over 25 million factory jobs to Mexico and Asia, turning our once strong manufacturing economy into a weak service oriented economy.
@Carla Yep, by almost every measure, Clinton produced the best economy.

⦿ JOB CREATION
Reagan 16.5 million
Clinton 18.6 million
Bush 5.8 million
Obama 8.9 million
Trump NEGATIVE 3 million

⦿ YEARLY DEFICIT
Reagan $79 billion to $152 billion
Clinton lowered our deficit from 255 billion to a $126 billion SURPLUS in 2001
Bush raised deficit from 0 to 1412 billion
Obama lowered deficit from 1412 billion to 585 billion
Trump raised from 585 billion up to ~4000 billion

⦿ DJIA
Jan 20 1981, Reagan takes office 946;
Jan 20 1989, Reagan leaves office 2235;
Up 136% or 11.3% growth per year.
Jan 20 1993, Clinton takes office 3242;
Jan 20 2001, Clinton leaves office 10588;
up 227%, or 15.92% growth per year.
Jan 20 2001, Bush takes office 10588;
Jan 20 2009, Bush leaves office 7949;
NEGATIVE 3.5% per year.
Jan 20 2009, Obama takes office 7949;
Jan 20 2017, Obama leaves office 19827;
up almost 150% over 8 years, or 12.1% per year (1.121^8=2.49).
Jan 20 2017, Trump takes office 19827;
Jan 20 2021, Trump leaves office 30,930;
up 56% over 4 years, or 11.76% growth per year.

P.S., despite @NativePortlander1970's claims, US manufacturing jobs had been on a steady decline before, during, and after Clinton.

P.P.S. @NativePortlander1970, for a man who brags about his IQ like you
I tested at 148 in third grade back in september 1978 at the age of eight, I have always wondered what it is now.
I'd expect you to be a little more familiar with the data on manufacturing jobs🤣😂

Funnily enough it is easiest if you work from worst to best. Worst is Biden then Carter then Obama then GWB then HWB then Clinton then Reagan then Trump. Sad to say Reagan was not effective at changing the direction of the nation and its trajectory toward ignominy. Trump hasn't done much in that regard either but with the exception of killing an Iranian General his peace plans were better than Reagan's war plans.
@JohnOlinger81 I looked at the electoral college map of Bill Clinton's victory I always thought Clinton was a good President. I didn't approve on him being impeached and affairs on Hillary Clinton but the price of gas was good compared to the mess it is now. Biden screwed the election over for Harris but I voted for Harris but some stuff she could of prevented with the illegals coming into America and she could of disagreed with him on some things but she didn't
What were headed for with Trump people are going to wish they voted for Harris but let them find out for themselves. Trump is wanting to increase prices on all electronics. So if we need a new TV or Laptop we best get it now because the prices will be raised on them things. Hey I refuse to debate over Trump but experience is the best Teacher.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@JohnOlinger81 They are all very flawed individuals. Kind of picking the best of a bad lot. I am hopeful that Trump will end up having more effect on the course of America than Reagan did and I truly hope that Trump is able to correct many of the bad policies of OBiden and Carter. It would be very interesting to see the US go back to its constitutional roots where it was a confederation and not a federation.
JohnOlinger81 · 41-45, M
@hippyjoe1955 maybe Trump can do a better jop in his second term than first term I get the sense he wasnt prepared during his first term
Good question! Americans love pretending there's a political difference between these war loving fascists!
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
There are two ways to answer that. For Americans at home and for America in the world..😷
RedBaron · M
Probably Reagan and Clinton, maybe Obama.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
I only really know Trump and Obama.

@NativePortlander1970 missed the date.
@Carla It's still my standing, JFK was ok, he narrowly avoided war during the Cuban missile crisis and wanted to avoid Vietnam, but he was still a cheating womanizer, Carter was ok, he serious tried despite an opposition dem Congress, but he made an enemy with the Trucker's Union, and his crisis of confidence lecture in 1979 from the oval office pissed off a lot of voters, and I hated Saint Ronnie Raygun with a passion, so our last actual honorable prez with real integrity was Ike.
