As long as Trump is president....Nothing will make any progress at all!!!
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Nevertooold To be totally fair, the US economy has not beemaking progress for a couple of decades now. But under Trump it is going backwards faster than any economy did during Covid..The only thing conceiling this is the rise of the stock market as people desperately look for a place to hold any asset but cash..
Interesting note, Warren Buffett has been selling shares and stockpiling cash. His pattern is to do this when the market is about to crash, so he can buy bargains when it falls..😷

I selected - number 1
The reason, all governments need to reduce waste, personally i would have dropped the EBT by 30% to weed out the people causing fraud and getting on the internet showing they have 7 kids and they all have ADD - All different dads
• USAID also funded a group of Ukrainian women-led designers to travel to the Paris Fashion Show. I don’t know about you, but I’d imagine Ukrainian women have more important things to worry about than appearing in the Paris Fashion Show.
• USAID spent $2 million on transgender surgeries, hormone therapy, and gender-affirming care in Guatemala.
• $20,000 to fund a DEI promoting drag theater in Ecuador.
• $20 million was spent to produce a new Sesame Street show in Iraq.
No, the United States does not receive foreign aid from other countries; instead, it is the world's largest provider of foreign aid, offering economic and military assistance to other nations. The US government allocates billions of dollars annually for aid programs through agencies like the United States Agency for International Development (USAID

I think changing
income (actually taxing those with the super ability to pay)
the pernicious intrusions of money & businesses into politics
the huge healthcare increases due to corporate profits on sickness, pain, death (go to single payer)
mandating personal savings / investment
and seizing all assets of the Project 2025 conspirators and the plan's executors for the debts of the US AND undoing the spending excesses of DJT & the current Congress
would bring us a long way.

Yes, decades, but
WJC balanced the budget
and we have had real reductions in deficit (but not under R's).
The bank bailout of GWB's friends was a huge payout which should have hit the banks & their investors (FDIC would cover acct holders).
And DJT is making country-destroying additions...
It has taken decades to get this far into debt..And there is plenty of blame to go around. But it will be the people who will pay one way or another.

@SomeMichGuy All absolutely right. But Clinton played a part when the dot com bubblr burst. He could have allowed the economy to have a minor recession to even up the ship. But instead he pushed real estate as the next big thing and oversaw the Savings and loan scandals and the creation of NINJA loans. American politicians seem allergic to facing the music of bad economic news.. And if you dont face the music, the band just comes back later, playing louder..😷

Ours is a fiat currency. Its based on confidence and debt. We're going to keep on doing what we've been doing since Nixon took us off the gold standard of economics.
My question is this. Is all the gold our economy used to be based on still in Ft Knox? What's it doing?

1) The gold standard isn't necessary and countries got out of the Depression by getting off of it.
2) All currencies are based on faith. Thinking that something shiny has value is just an alternative faith.
3) You are forgetting the money multiplier.
4) Look at the fools buying numismatic gold "just in case" everything falls apart‐‐if it all goes down, who is going to give you a premium over the base gold value?

@SomeMichGuy This is true.. As long as there is mutual believe and Trust. but its the trust that was wounded by the increasing debt and killed off completely by Trumps policies..Almost no one outside america believes in america any more. And fewer inside America every day..😷
SomeMichGuy · M
@whowasthatmaskedman Yeah, I've made this point many times.
Muthafukajones · 46-50, M
The cycle of US politics seems destined to a deep depression and then a war to lift the economy out of it and then new prosperity. How many lives will be ruined to bring about Trumps great America.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Tastyfrzz AI is going to be a double edged sword. Robots wont pay income tax. But they may fight some of those wars..All while destroying the economy, First with a bubble. Then by taking jobs so there is no income and the consumer economy collapses.😷
Muthafukajones · 46-50, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Look at the stock markets since Trump took over. I believe his entire policy is market manipulation.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Muthafukajones Actually, he had to be taught about the market to get his Trump media off the ground. But there are other factors at work driving the market up that have nothing to do with value. You have the day traders who have turned the market into a casino based on short term bets on the rise or fall. And you have the flight from cash to any other asset that may hold value when the $ drops..😷
Ignoring the problem that politicians want to ignore, one of the things America is still great at!
gol979 · 46-50, M
It can never serve its debt because the illusion of money is manufactured with central bank debt (interest).
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@gol979 I agree. I mean it is theoretically possible. But politically it would show a degree of will and maturity that no politician in living memory has shown.😷
