This is what pisses me off about Americans and privilege

Imagine being so privileged

Imagine having access to healthcare for free. Access to strong pain medication. you don’t have to pay before going you just go and deliver a baby for free. until you get the bill, and technically you really don’t even have to pay it.

the only repercussion of not paying your bill is it affecting your credit. And actually you can pay as little as $10 a month to collections for it not to affect your credit if you call billing and work something out

And then stupid ass Americans go and do stupid shit like go have their baby in a pool of water at home because it’s “natural” aka now The next trend of what people are doing and posting on social media for something to talk about.

A nurse and I were discussing this at work and we were talking about how stupid and ignorant this is . Because imagine if the mother or the baby have some sort of an issue and they’re not at the hospital to immediately address it and they die 🤷‍♂️

I had a natural birth at home
So I can post some cute pictures and an inspirational post for Instagram

Imagine if it were true. Healthcare isn't free.

I can totally understand you not thinking this is a good choice but I wouldn’t waste any time or energy being pissed about it. It’s a very small fraction of the population and most of the time works out ok.
Water births have been a thing for decades.

Scratch that... centuries.
DiliMarky · M
@MrBlueGuy Now your blaming me. Why are you blaming these guys in the first place?
@DiliMarky It's you're. I won't continue to argue with someone with such a slender grasp of grammar.
DiliMarky · M
@MrBlueGuy I slender grasp your moms cheeky cheeks last night. Why your blaming other people, goes beyond me
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
I would stick to a hospital where they can handle any emergency.
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
@JimboSaturn right… what’s your midwife gonna do if you bleed out?
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@WaryWitchWandering it can happen IN SECONDS and minutes that you don’t have to be wasted traveling to another destination 😩
SW-User
yes I think you at least need an medical professional there just in case anything goes wrong espically with the first born. Theres some things you shouldnt attempt without an proffesional on hand
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Zeuro not everyone has the privilege to live a mile from the hospital, when I lived in Georgia the nearest hospital was 30 minutes away
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@DeluxedEdition then that is a reason to consider a hospital birth. Not everyone is a good candidate for a home birth however if the circumstances allow it it can be a much better experience
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@DeluxedEdition Same here.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
I think it's part of the whole rejection of modern medicine by some people.

It takes all kinds to make the world go round? 🌎
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@FloorGenAdm that’s a good point
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
I was way too scared to even consider an at home birth

With both I was induced anyway… my first I had a huge spike in blood pressure on my check and needed meds to lower it and then induce as well. My second they induced me at 37 wks bc of cholestasis.

But even if all was fine. I was so scared of something happening haha
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@WaryWitchWandering I’m glad everything was okay and you guys were safe 🤗

Pregnancy complications are terrifying
Imagine living for the rest of your life blaming yourself for not going to hospital and because of it your baby dies….

I’d find a way to drag that crazy woman to the hospital to birth our baby 🤦‍♂️

Fucking wack-jobs
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@Teggy the risk of infant death is really not much higher for home births among low risk pregnancies. And it’s not like there’s no midwife
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Zeuro “low risk pregnancies”

what insurance covers a midwife to deliver a baby at home? It’s difficult enough just getting admitted as a new patient into a clinic much less finding a doctor willing to come to your personal home and deliver a baby there.
It’s just not realistic thinking
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@DeluxedEdition midwives aren’t regular doctors just coming to your house, midwives are specifically trained to help women give birth, often at home but they can also come to hospitals. Most private insurance covers midwifery
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
One more clueless person, talking about something they have no iead about.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@nudistsueaz there is nothing false about what I wrote

Maybe triggering to those who disagree but not false
Dan193 · 31-35, M
People are going mad
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Dan193 I think Americans mental illness is attributed to the preservatives and pesticides used in our food
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Dan193 Always has been 👨🏻‍🚀🔫👨🏻‍🚀
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@DeluxedEdition also all the nuke tests in nevada and new mexico
Isn't it actually the same degree of risk as a Murkan "hospital"?
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
Yeah, I'm not a woman, so it's not my lane, but I don't like pain she to being a wuss. If I was a woman, I'd take anaesthesia and a C section please.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@WaryWitchWandering I had a friend who told me this happened to her she said it was extremely traumatizing because she felt everything except she couldn’t tell them she was awake
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
@DeluxedEdition this woman said the same… she had terrible PTSD and recurring nightmares/daymares about it
Elessar · 26-30, M
@WaryWitchWandering I can see why 😶
Justenjoyit · 61-69, M
People are People and some die of doing silly things unfortunately
Do we still have midwives in the United States?
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@RocktheHouse When I lived in Georgia I did have a midwife but she did not deliver my baby the doctor did. I work more at rehabs and nursing homes and when I did work at the hospital I worked in med surg with trachs and ventilator patients. So it’s a little harder for me to accurately speak on these things regarding labor and delivery

Where I live in Florida the nicu and the labor and delivery part of the hospital is always extremely full (of staff). And it’s hard to get a position working there, Because it’s a very good position to have as a cna or a nurse to work with delivering babies. It’s easier and preferable) therefore it’s in LOWER DEMAND due to the amount of people who rush to flock to labor and delivery

I think that’s the reason we see them less and less midwives because why would someone go through that amount of schooling for such a low demand of a position that they may never find?

Just my personal opinion though

@Zeuro I take your point provided you are close to a hospital. I'm Canadian so we don't have to pay for the hospital which is good because it takes the "money" out of the decision.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@WaryWitchWandering I thought they still did the husband stitch lolx I didn’t know it was going out of practice

I had c sections

😅 nobody come for me because I would want mine stitched back 🤣🤣🤣
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
@DeluxedEdition they still stitch everything… but the husband stitch makes things too tight and uncomfortable once healed up
