This is what pisses me off about Americans and privilege

Imagine being so privileged

Imagine having access to healthcare for free. Access to strong pain medication. you don’t have to pay before going you just go and deliver a baby for free. until you get the bill, and technically you really don’t even have to pay it.

the only repercussion of not paying your bill is it affecting your credit. And actually you can pay as little as $10 a month to collections for it not to affect your credit if you call billing and work something out

And then stupid ass Americans go and do stupid shit like go have their baby in a pool of water at home because it’s “natural” aka now The next trend of what people are doing and posting on social media for something to talk about.

A nurse and I were discussing this at work and we were talking about how stupid and ignorant this is . Because imagine if the mother or the baby have some sort of an issue and they’re not at the hospital to immediately address it and they die 🤷‍♂️

I had a natural birth at home
So I can post some cute pictures and an inspirational post for Instagram

I think it's part of the whole rejection of modern medicine by some people.

@JimboSaturn see my comment. There’s a whole lot more to it than that. Home births give you much more control
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Zeuro you have the right to refuse any kind of treatment you don’t want. You are in control of what exactly? Endangering yourself or your child
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@DeluxedEdition you are not automatically endangering yourself or your child by having a home birth when you have a low risk pregnancy. And like I said in my comment, home births allow you the freedom to walk through the contractions and to control who is in the room with you
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Zeuro yes you absolutely are. You are increasing both of your morality risk. because you don’t know if you are going to have a safe delivery or not. The entire pregnancy can go wonderful but the delivery can be difficult. I personally know of a woman who went in to deliver their child and had an aneurysm and died right on the spot. The child could have easily died as well but they had to do an emergency c section and the baby thankfully lived. You can’t determine or assume what’s going to be the outcome of your delivery because that’s not realistic

You have the freedom over your own body to contract and do as you please. Nobody is forcing you to do anything you don’t want to do

It kind of seems like you don’t have kids and are making blanket assumptions based on what you see in movies 🤦‍♀️

you also have full control over who is in the room with you. Again you have the right to refuse any treatment and you have the right to refuse anyone for any reason.
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@DeluxedEdition I can assure you I’m not basing this on movies. I hardly even watch movies. What I’m basing it on is the experiences of actual women and actual studies on the issue. Statistically the mortality rate is hardly different. And when you live near a hospital it’s not that big a deal to have to take a 4 minute ride to it.

And again, I’m not just talking about the freedom to refuse certain medical treatments, I’m talking about the ENTIRE experience

@MarmeeMarch as I explained before, you have the ability to walk around and be in whatever position you choose, take a bath, etc and have complete control of who is in the room with you.

And also like I said, a 2 mile drive to the hospital isn’t that bad

@MarmeeMarch are you aware that it doesn’t fucking matter because a five minute drive to the hospital if something does go wrong is not a big fucking deal
