When did nato invade those countries and force them to join nato? How many children did they kidnap and force to live in a strange country with no family? How many people did they murder? How many cities did they vaporize? Maybe those independent nations chose to join nato specifically to protect themselves from such barbaric probabilities.
You have uncritically accepted a Russia definition of "eastern Europe" as a bloc of countries that Russia somehow has a divine right to exploit and dominate. That is an anachronistic view that ignores the rich and varied histories of this region.
