The US inflation rate is currently 2.9%.

https://www.cnn.com/2023/07/12/economy/cpi-inflation-june/index.html

"Inflation, as measured by the CPI, has now eased for 12 consecutive months and is at its lowest rate since March 2021."
When it drops .2% more..........which it is forecast to do between now and November......... it will be exactly what it was in 2009 under George Bush Jr.

Soooooooo, logically....... if it still sucks to trumpers when it drops .2% more........that must mean things sucked from them under Bush Jr. too. I wonder how many Republicans will like that logic? ;-)

The problem is that wages have not risen enough....and corporations continue to price gouge consumers because they can. There is no law against it.

Guess who made record profits during the pandemic and continue to today.

Good news.

How many more rate hikes until the Fed hits the 2% target?
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@independentone Agree. I have a shitload of money in cash.
@eli1601 I keep around 18 months of living expenses in a savings account, the rest is in stocks that I've been buying for a couple decades. I do enjoy the dividends.
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@independentone I keep my cash in a Vanguard money market account which has been paying a good dividend for a while. The bulk of my remaining funds are in mutual funds split between stocks and bonds and I get dividends on the bonds every quarter. So far, so good. We also have a lot of home equity which I'm hoping to leave for the kids, but could use for a medical emergency if Medicare really does run out of money.

Oh good that means that the price of food will stop skyrocketing right?

... right?!

Which includes inflation rates reaching 9% in some Florida cities. DeSantis really can't wake to turn the rest of the US into Florida. 😑
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
Oh, but it's not low enough for the Republicans. At least not until they get one of their guys into office again. Then we won't hear about inflation from the right for another 4 to 8 years.
SnailTeeth · 36-40
@LordShadowfire They won't be winning that until they can get Trump out of the picture.
