How do we see ourselves, and how the world see us.

We Americans see ourselves as superheroes protecting humanity.

The world see us as the Evil Empire.

America has done many wonderful things and also many atrocious things. They're the dominant culture in the West (probably even the world) but they appear to have a macho immaturity (as a nation) and an unhealthy obsession with guns, which makes them appear very insecure. Its crucial failing is to allow a very insidious streak of Evangelical fundamentalism to infect the State and its decisions. This goes against the Constitution and what the Founding Fathers intended when they wished to separate Church from State. That's exactly why they wanted that separation, because of the problems it invariably causes. America has failed to learn the lessons of ancient Europe, which is a tragedy.

I'm English, not an American, and it's disingenuous to say America has no culture. It might not be highbrow culture, but it's certainly a culture which has been influential globally.

America's culture is pop culture (i.e. popular culture). The world love our music, movies, and style. Couple that with our inventiveness in technology, finance, and commerce, we conquered the world. Why the hell did we have to impose our rules-based order on the whole planet as a military power? I think you hit the nail on the head when you pointed to that insidious evangelical streak. It's that self-righteous, holier than thou Christian mentality pushing what is good for America on the rest of the world: liberal democracy.

Self-Perception is the view we have about ourselves, our characteristics, and the judgments we make about the traits we have.

Self-perception includes our self-concept (the image we have in our heads of who we are) and our self-esteem (how we judge the characteristics we possess).

We are the best humans can ever be.

American over reach and interference even in the affairs of its allies has pissed people off. Especially in the region I'm from.

Might makes right, but the States ceded the moral highground in Vietnam and has never quite been able to realise it since.

America has no allies, only running dogs. We seek world domination and provide protection to those who support our mission. There are American military bases in every country allied with the US. We arm them with superior weapon systems to give them a sense of security. They pay for the weapons we supply but their real use is for fighting America's wars when the time comes. Then, they will also pay with their citizens lives.

@sunsporter1649 Why does any country have to be the saviour/s? Personally I believe the old saying that Optimists believe the USA is the best any country can ever be, and Pessimists believe that the USA is the best country that can ever be.

American exceptionalism. As a nation, we have achieved many "firsts" in the world. We have a Jesus complex. We can walk on water.
