Where were you during the Great Recession, 15 years ago?

First of all, I can't believe it's been 15 years. I was a college student studying Nursing, which was already hard enough as it was. I remember some students worried that they might have had to take a semester off, or drop out of school all together.

Losing money. All my retirement savings were invested in stocks.

I started a business in December 2008! Employed kids straight out of college and gave them a great job in Marketing/Advertising/PR to start their careers

I was just out of high school and deliberating between law and computers. I went with computers.

I was 17 years old and had just graduated high school. My summer job that year consisted of being the Managing Director of Sales and Marketing of our family-owned, portable vegetable stand which was set up at the end of our farm laneway on a gravel road pretty much in the middle of nowhere.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@swirlie really, managing director at age 17? I guess nepotism worked well.
swirlie · 31-35, F
@samueltyler2
...yes, but they were tough on me. My Dad would load up our farm wagon with fresh produce in the morning, then he'd toss me the keys to the tractor and would tell me to unload this stuff in the vegetable stand on my own and have it all sold by sundown, or don't bother coming in for dinner.

In Virginia trying to earn a living. I owned a residential construction company. Man! Were times tough.
