I hate that it happened and that people are gloating that it did. Just because his gig was infuriating people & using circular logic to defend his version of right wing ideas is not an excuse to wish him harm. It's horrible all the way around.

Unfortunately this event will make political discourse in the US more difficult and uncivil.

The door to political violence has been opened too many times in the course of US history.

I hate that so many people are urging compassion for a man who had absolutely none when it came to other people’s deaths, especially that of black men. I don’t celebrate anyone’s death. But here I’m not shedding any tears, either.

When Rep Melissa Hortman and her husband were killed earlier this year, when Senator John Hoffman and his wife were also shot, there were plenty of jokes. But nobody now defending Kirk said a mumbling word about that. 😞
@Carla I’m not laughing. But I’m not crying, either. Basically I’m shaking my head because if ever there were a case of someone who lived by the sword, dying by the sword (gun), this was it. 🤔

He was answering a gun control question when he was shot.
He believed gun deaths were the price we pay for owning those very guns that ended him.

@3Dogmatic They’re just showing Kirk the same amount of compassion that he has shown for others who were victims of gun violence…no more, no less. And Trump was convicted of those charges but was still allowed to run for president. I did indeed notice that, just as the Supreme Court was stacked in the GOP’s favor. Corruption, through and through.
