A few anomalies regarding the school shooting.

The shooter was teased for being poor. He was driving a $70,000,00 pickup and had a couple of very expensive rifles as well as wearing body armor. He shot his grandmother over an unpaid phone bill, drove away, got his truck stuck and started shooting at a funeral home. After 12 minutes of shooting at the funeral home he crossed the street and entered the school through an open door. He then barricaded himself in a room where he killed the kids and teachers. The cops gathered outside and did not try to enter the school because they said they didn't have a ballistic shield. Many parents gathered and urged the police to act. Federal marshals detained several parents. Other parents broke into the school and brought out their children. After an hour or so some Border Guards arrived, stormed the school and killed the shooter. The border guard who entered the room and killed the shooter was grazed by a bullet from the shooter. The bullet went through the border agent's baseball cap and opened a wound in the agent's scalp.

A few questions:
1) How did the shooter afford the truck, rifles and body armor if he couldn't pay his phone bill?
2) Where were the police when he was shooting at the funeral home?
3) Why were the doors of the school still open when there were shots being fired across the street from the school?
4) Why didn't the police do anything?
5) Why were there federal marshals there?
6) Why were the police and federal marshals arresting parents?
7) Why were the border agents the ones to enter the building?
8) If lack of protection kept the cops out why did the border guards go in without adequate protection?

Lots of unanswered questions. And events that should never ever happen.

1- that is still under investigation and takes time to definitively say. The shooter did not have a drivers license and the truck was registered to his grandparents.
2- they were on the way and the initial report was they were responding to a traffic accident, not an active shooter.
3- biggest question of all is why the teacher left the door open as she retreated back into the school. It violates a State law put in place after the Santa Fe HS shooting 4 years ago.
4- there were 19 officers from various agencies in the hallway of the school within minutes of him entering. The incident commander determined it was no longer an active shooter scenario and was a barricaded subject. A decision he’ll have to live with the rest of his life. The officers outside established a perimeter to prevent escape and keep others from entering an active scene.
5- Uvalde PD has about 50 officers. They put a call out for any law enforcement to assist. US Marshals came from San Antonio (80 miles away) and Del Rio (60 miles away). Border Patrol agents are stationed in Uvalde and live in the community. Uvalde is 45 miles from the border.
6- no parent was arrested. That’s a complete falsehood.
7- Members of a BORTAC team along with officers from other agencies entered the classroom and killed the suspect. Officers from various agencies had already entered the school.
8- the BORTAC members had a ballistic shield when they entered the classroom and killed the suspect.

There are many other questions that need to be, and will be answered. An investigation like this is very complex. Everyone is angry and rightfully so that 19 kids and 2 teachers were killed. We all need to take a step back and let the Texas Rangers and the FBI finish the investigation and not inflame an already emotional and volatile situation.
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
@hippyjoe1955 there is no evidence to back up a single thing you’ve said in regards to what happened in Uvalde. You’re just as bad as people on the extreme left.

@JesseInTX So says someone whose eyes are firmly closed. Too funny!
boudinMan · 61-69, M
@JesseInTX also, if he didn't have a driver's license, how was he able to legally purchase a gun?
Carazaa · F
Police should not be police unless they are willing to protect people, and be willing to offer their lives for people! We are living in the last days when men have cold hearts and not even police have love for people, but protect themselves and are fearful! So sad.
Carazaa · F
@Heartlander

And this is what God says.

John 15:13
"Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends."

1 John 3:16
"By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers."
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@Carazaa There's also a few biblical quotes about "judgment". We really don't know what was in the hearts of those police officers who were on the scene.
Carazaa · F
@Heartlander If they waited one minute I think they are guilty of manslaughter if not second degree murder!

This epilogue to the story is maddening beyond belief.
To me, it's as stunning as learning that they teach how to be gay and CRT in schools.

Sending the police to a scene like the school shooting, knowing they will do nothing to stop the shooter is insane.

Clearly, it's every man for himself. You better be armed or you've pre-selected yourself to be a victim.

I can't imagine being a police officer on the scene and handling crowd control while the shooter is still active.

Unlocked front doors in a school in unforgivable. I think it was after Sandyhook that federal money was provided for security / access / CCTV, so that shooters can't just walk in.

What a cluster!
AbbySvenz · F
Why don’t we wait for the investigation to finish so we have all the facts before the conspiracy theories can start brewing?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@AbbySvenz When it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck.... Yeah an 'investigation'. That will solve everything. I am sure you are willing to provide a couple of gallons of whitewash.

well, according to the limited googling I've done

1) it was grandma's truck (the one he shot in the face). how she afforded the truck I don't know - and why anybody in their right might would pay that kind of money is beyond me.

2) he wasn't shooting at the funeral home but at two employees off the funeral home that approached the gunman after he put the truck in the ditch.

as far as the location of the police the first 911 call came in at 11:30 and 3 police officers were on scene/out of their vehicle and in the school at 11:35 and 2 of them received grazing wounds.

3) don't have a complete answer but it is probably because of the short duration between the first shots fired and the teacher noticing the gunman

4) see #2

5) a twitter report said that at 11:30 the Federal Marshals received a request for assistance (having worked around law enfforcement for 20 years - civiliian) I've obeserved it normal for any cop with a badge and a gun to run towards danger while others are hunkered down or running away.

6) I've only seen reports that one mother was arrested and handcuffed (there may have been more) because she was trying to save her kid(s). Basically she was going to put herself in harm's way, had no way of knowing where her child was at the moment, would make another potential hostage or fatality and was not obeying legal orders of the police.

7) The Boder agents were actually a special trained response team with the training and equipment to enter an active shooter scene. Don't know if the the local police had such a team or not.

8) see #7

The cop that did the briefing was basing it on survillance videos and 911 call information.

It may not be 100% accurate and may be subject to change as more details become known.

And there will be people that deny it even happened like they did in Sandy Hook.

The one question you didn't ask is "why was an outside door to a school be proppped open in violation of school policy". But I suspect that was maintenance or delivery oriented.

They create this, they’ll be more shootings to come, they want to take your guns, you can’t have a Great reset with people armed.

It’s all in their plan…
Fairydust · F
@SW-User yeah I understand, it’s just hard knowing the evil that’s going on.
I am positive, I just get very opinionated in texting on it. But that’s only because I want people to see what’s really going on. 😞
SW-User
@Fairydust There is something going on... it's influenced somewhere, but I don't think it's what you make it to be.. so I am your friend on this, and the darn halfwits, I'm unsure... They seem to like class?

@SW-User
it’s definitely as bad as I make out. Sadly 😞 just many won’t believe it.

there's also the news about him being in therapy with someone who was very good at mind manipulation through hypnosis ..

The more i see unfolding, the more i think this was planned, so some group of people could satisfy their devil masters who require suffering, anger, anguish, torture and death of kids to gain more power and laugh about it. Far out theory i know, but there are many who are into that.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
The border guards also waited for 35 minutes before breaching the door to the room. Prior to that the local police and deputies had contained him. So there was likely extreme risk for a worse outcome without the right equipment and weaponry.

I believe I read someplace that a rock was used to prop the door open, so probably it was common practice for staff to use that door to run out to their car to smoke or fetch a cell phone, or whatever, and get back in.

Yea, lots of unknowns.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@Onestarlitnight

The only equipment missing from the scene was BRAVERY..
The cops on the scene were COWARDS..
19 against 1??

We have 3 or 4 relatives who are or were law enforcement officers in the south Texas area and the last thing I would put on their personal profiles would be "coward" :)

If your reference to bravery is the image of WW1 soldiers climbing out of trenches to charge a bunkered line of machine guns, you may be unaware that behind the charging soldiers were other soldiers prepared to shoot those who refused to go or tried to turn back too early.

The risk of blatantly charging an active shooter included risks to the children that may have been used as human shields, even with 19 to 1 odds.

We don't know what went on there. We don't know if the bullets were passing through the walls, or whether the shooter was hiding behind the children, or really anything.

I would describe south Texas as having a predisposition towards violence and the various law enforcement agencies have plenty of experience dealing with it.

So let's wait for more of the details, and not forget the root cause: a disenfranchised older kid or young adult who took out his resentment and anger by killing others.
@Heartlander
They're all FUCKING COWARDS AND PIECES OF SHIT..

overfunded incompetent police... seriosuly those guys are wearing military equipment.. no police should have access to this kind of equipment

look at them.. someone should bring them some donuts...

@MoonMoon I just found out your German. If anyone's opinion on this topic is irrelevant it's a German.

Now go goose step some where else
MoonMoon · F
@HoraceGreenley jealous that german police is way more competent ? ok pretty much every police in the world is more copetent then american police...
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@MoonMoon You're kidding right? German police units are eell known for screwing up.
As this story evolves, it continues to get more bizarre. People are getting incredibly pissed off over the lack of action by the Uvalde police.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@TexChik Of course when the lawsuits start to come "I was just following orders" is not a defense. The excuse for the innaction seems to be that they were treating this as a barricaded shooter not an active shooter. That doesn't fit the description of what was going on and the police were negligent in their duties. Then to lie about it to their superiors..... If the police are not up on criminal charges for being a part of the mass killing then justice does not exist in Texas.
@TexChik It's infuriating. The story has changed multiple times over the last 72 hours. So many bizarre details have surfaced. I'm having a difficuly time believing it was incompetence and cowardess that led to this tragedy.

@BizSuitStacy yes it starting to look very suspicious

There are lots of questions here.
19 children, 2 teachers and we should even add the husband of one teacher to the death toll.

I would support increased background checks if they were not used for nefarious reasons.
I would even support red flag laws if they also were not used for nefarious reasons. The problem with red flags laws is that over 99.999999999999999999999999999999% of the American Population will be denied their Rights to Gun Ownership. Because if you've ever had an argument or disagreement with anyone, they can seize your guns and take away your rights permanently.
Roadsterrider · 56-60, M
As I understand it, the truck was his grandmother's. I saw an article that explained the border patrol presence, he was just passing by and had his weapon and body armor with him so he responded before the police got there. The other questions, I have no idea.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Roadsterrider The police and federal marshals were there long before the border agent arrived. There is video of the police and federal marshals arresting parents while the shooting was going on. Reports said that the border agents were called by the police.
Roadsterrider · 56-60, M
@hippyjoe1955 Conflicting reports, maybe a false flag?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Roadsterrider Honestly don't know. But I just read an article that said that the police went in to the school and got their kids out then came back out and did nothing while the shooting continued. Very very strange events. Certainly more questions than answers.
There are too many errors here to even address so i won't..
This story has changed so many times its not funny..
But much of what you've written is factually inaccurate..

... or wouldn't pay, the bill?

Has his grandmother survived? I saw one report that she has.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 I think I heard it as quoted from a newspaper, but obviously what happened in the school overshadows all else.

A terrible atrocity, and so utterly pointless.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@ArishMell You are so absolutely correct. What terrible thing to happen. There is no words to describe the evil that was committed. Sadly the simpletons want to blame guns when in fact guns were just the tool used to do the evil. No worse than the truck or the body armor. It was the evil in the perps heart along with the evil in those who enabled him to do this horrific act. The lot of them need to have their lives terminated including the complicit cops, negligent teachers, and especially those who were controlling the entire scene. Sorry but there simply is no other explanation. No amount of incompetence is that great. This was planned and executed with precision timing.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Why blame the victims?

Yes, the gun was the tool of the evil, but why is life so easy for the evil? This has proven yet again just how easy it is in the US for a civilian to buy weapons designed solely to kill as many people as possible a rapidly as possible, on a battlefield in war. Why would a civilian ever want such a weapon?

It's questions like those that people far from the USA ask, but receive no convincing replies.

Many Americans now call for "background checks" on gun ownership. I think some States at least, do have these, but shouldn't they be cohesive and nation-wide?

Well, we have had parallels in the UK, for other reasons, and seen that they do not always work because obviously but such enquiries can only show that the subject has an innocent past. That's not to say they are pointless, far from it. Nevertheless, they cannot foretell the future, and an individual really intent on evil acts is likely to hide his intentions. US law simply makes it so easy to buy powerful mass-murder weapons - no other country does that. Some of the out-and-out criminal fraternity, and obviously terrorist organisations, manage to obtain them, but there is no casual, open warfare-weapons retaining.

Though this may vary from State to State, a friend visiting the USA found an ordinary supermarket would sell him rifle rounds but not beer - yet he was a foreigner whose only ID he was carrying in the shop was his UK Driving Licence! He was re-paying ammunition spent by invitation on a host's private range. His host had proudly showed the visitor his arsenal of about twenty weapons, with the comment that "some have lots more!"

Whatever it needs, common reactions like quick and easy blaming of "mental illness" and victims, vaguely fearing unspecified "tyranny" and fetishising an amended 18C militia law, won't wash. All countries - including mine I know only too well - have their own serious social and cultural problems; but of the rich, "developed" countries it's only America that has so many inhabitants who seem to think the solution is simply yet more guns. Many Americans would probably agree, but face a deep-rooted culture of violence, and a rich gun lobby far more powerful politically than its relative population.

NO - such problems need serious social and cultural answers, with deep and genuine cross-party political support; but sadly, those seems as far away as ever.

'
(I stressed amended for what it implies...)
It's like everything went right for him. Just so happen there was no cop present at the school during this time, even though the school normally has a cop. The door was conveniently unlocked. It's a very strange situation. He's only one shooter, why did they need border patrol anyway? Is it standard protocol to call in border patrol for a situation like that?
ineedadrink · 51-55, M
@RocktheHouse His wife called him from inside the school. He borrowed a shotgun and went to the scene, almost took a bullet to the head, it just grazed his scalp, and took care of business. It's a border area and BP are the best trained guys in any border state.

@Stereoguy Yeah all the boys carried jack knives from the time we entered school. No one ever thought of them as a weapon. They were for cutting string and debarking tree branches or maybe slicing an apple for lunch. If we wanted a weapon we had rat tailed combs in our back pockets. We would sharpen the tips on the rat tail using a pencil sharpener. No one ever used one as a weapon but we had them....Just in case.

@Stereoguy Our upbringing reminds me an old neighbor we had on the farm. He was quite wealthy and had no family and had a steady income from the Natural Gas wells on his property. He phoned the cops one day to complain about someone stealing the gasoline he used on the farm. Someone would come while he was asleep or away and steal some gasoline. The police said that there was no way they could guard his gas but if he put some sugar in the gasoline he would know who was stealing the gas because the sugar would damage the thief's engine. The old farmer thought about it for a minute or two then asked "Well what if it is one of my friends?" The cop had tears in his eyes as he hung up the phone. Yeah we would have an occasional fight but no one wanted to hurt the other. We were all friends.
