4am the power came on

It's 48F outside my blankets.

Thankfully I would have survived the night bundled up. But I can now get up and answer mother nature Lol.

Emergency planning says save a one-gallon milk jug rinsed and clean beside your bed, in such emergencies you could just roll to one side or the other and use the jug without leaving the bed for you nighttime Number one needs. From your Northern friend in Ohio where the wood burning stove keeps the house warm no matter the temp.

Just teasing you a bit here is all. I am not serious.

Right now, at 9:14 am it is 20 degrees F

Always willing to help,
Willa

ours was out for 3 days last week after an ice storm; heat not really an issue with wood stove; the biggest hurdle is trying to keep stuff in fridge and freezer from spoiling... again; had to chuck quite a bit of stuff after Helene.

my generator quit working 3 or 4 years ago, and I've put off spending another $800+ on a new one; though shed is already full of junk and I'd have no where to store one anyways... 🤔

I have generators for that reason

I don't care if the house gets cold. But I have wood/coal heat and chimney fires and furnace melt down fires can happen without electricity to run the fans

@HumanEarth I once had all the survival accessories. Propane heat and woodstove. Generator also.
I'm now in an old 3 room apartment bottom floor of an old 2 story farm house with a well for water. Not much I can do here. Fill the tub for flushing water with a bucket. But I have to foresee a power outage coming to prepare. This one caught the entire street off guard.

Glad your power is back on . We got lucky . Flickered couple times , but stayed on . 🌬❄
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@anoderod55 That's the way it often goes here. But it went at 3:30 and didn't flicker. I called it in then watched the online outage map and knew it was going to take a while. Spotty outages all over the area.

Mother nature vs...mother nature. LOL I understand that battle in the middle of the night.
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@FreddieUK I was bundled and 2 critters were laying on me. I wasn't moving and on a well I only get one flush Lol.

How awful! I'm so sorry you are having a chilly morning!!!

No fireplace?
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@PatKirby No. Its just a 3 room apartment on the bottom floor of an old 2 story farmhouse. It's the oldest house on this road and was probably the only house for many years.
