What is it like to not have an internal monologue?

Is it all visual? what happens in the quiet moments when you are by yourself? Are you on stand by?

I swear I have monologues judging monolgues who are in turn vetting those judgements. There is just always conversation in there.

after seeing your question I googled it because I remembered reading that some people don't have an internal monologue. . apparently its estimated that 30 to 50% of people don't have an internal monologue, I didn't think it was so much. I don't always have inner monologue, I can also just visualize things. I often use inner monologue to develop an idea, I imagine myself explaining the idea to someone else. it helps to really wrap my mind around a concept if i have to explain it to someone.

@reflectingmonkey I was watching a Youtube video that involves a streaming couple and the guy pointed out he realized she didn't have an internal monologue and I had to look it up and I was lead to that google search. I was surprised by the percentage as well.

My internal monologue is a little disjointed. If I'm trying to figure out a plan or a line of reasoning it helps to talk out loud to myself.

I don't think it's too crazy 😅

Must be something similar to dreams. Lots of times you know what's happening without a narrator. Also, there are ppl with just blank.

Training phrases, words, reasons. Pretending to talk to someone internally. Its rare that i can hear and see realistic images and sounds. Usually its a picture without much detail. I see an image in my mind but always out of focus. The moment i focus on a detail in my mind the rest goes blurry. Except those rare times when it seems more real.

Daydreaming for me. Im always daydreaming being somewhere else. Someone or something else. Philosophizing. Finding emotion through music. Quietly arguing and seething with rage in my mind. Playing artificially created movies.
