I give cubed peanut butter sandwiches and nuts when I can afford a few. They're waiting for me in my park, every day. I leave them water each day when it's dry. But word gets out, and all crows in my area know me.

I want to make friends with a crow

@DrawntoaDistance They're got characters about them, I've noticed. And they are quite cute in their own way.
@LadyInTheTower super smart too!

@DrawntoaDistance So I've heard. Someone told me that if a pest like a rat every gets in your garden they squawk like crazy to warn you. They are very protective apparenetly.

Crows are VERY intelligent creatures. Years ago, I knew a family that had a "pet" wild crow. It would fly around free, but it always came back. They even taught it to "talk" as much as you can teach a bird to talk. Beware the flock!!! If you start feeding them on a regular basis they may bring their "friends" with them. You could end up with hundreds of them hanging around you house.

@Convivial I wouldn't doubt it! I love that term "cockies"!!!!🤣🤣🤣
Convivial · 26-30, F
@Rabbit420 we tend to shorten names here lol
@Rabbit420 my group is only a dozen, it's okay to give them peanut butter sandwich cubes and a few nuts, every day, plus water. Bees use the water, and squirrels, too, but I'm not getting overwhelmed. That doesn't happen.
I am friends with my crows too. They're magnificent.

I think that's great.... Birds can use all the help that can get... And it's great for your daughter too

Crows are smart and if you get on their good side, can be fun to have around.

my dogs go nuts at crows

They love peanuts in the shell. Never tried raspberries.

@Softandsweet2
Crows will eat just about anything. So I think they'll like your raspberries!!!
Crows are opportunistic omnivores that eat almost anything, including insects, small animals, eggs, seeds, fruits, garbage, and carrion. Their natural and backyard diets span a wide variety of plant and animal sources. If you don't know what carrion is, it's dead animals!!!

@Rabbit420 I’ve only tried the peanuts. Unfortunately, squirrels also like the nuts so I had to quit feeding them.

i feed them as well one time ,one of them knocked on my door

With time and attention, your crows can be taught to say simple words, like "Hello" ! Imagine!

They are highly intelligent birds. They not only remember their human enemies faces, but TEACH them to their young! Similarly, they remember their friends!
