@Bumbles Yep. We prefer cherry tomatoes: sweeter, more intense flavor, and grow well in the subtropics all year round.
I use six raised veggie beds, 180 x 90 x 45 cm, full of 1 part each sand, clay and compost well mixed and constantly refreshed with mulch. It allows me to cycle the different types of veggies and herbs and provides enough for the two of us, plus occasional gifts to friends. Also grow citrus, pomegranates, mangoes, mulberries, native raspberries, banana and custard apples. Summer is the trickiest, often too hot or too wet, requiring shade cloth to protect the plants. The the pleasure garden is mostly lawn, constantly nibbled by wallabies, and flowering shrubs and perennials -- I try to keep it as simple as possible to reduce the work. Lots of native flora to attract birds and bees.
