I once found this walking cane?

Wow 👌 Beautiful find.
I've no idea about its markings and their significance.
I do however, know someone who's studied their UK lineage in-depth and identified their clan.
They also craft walking sticks and shillelagh.
I'll show them the images, perhaps they can be of some help.

@SethGreene531 Think i found what it was in reply to Gangstress on this thread.
The "markings" are probably walking stick badges of the locations the stick's owner went to. It's a good way to make your walking stick unique and start conversations with the public.
Given that the stick still has it's badges on them, you might be able to locate the owner or their descendants on Facebook. Somebody out there must remember that stick.

@HootyTheNightOwl Oh wow. Im not on Facebook personally. I was but not been on for over 2 and a half years. The stick never entered me head then. So wow its quite old by the looks of it. Id gladly pass it back to a righful descendant.
@Perry1968 If you do try to track down the original owners, don't share every badge that you have on there, see if they can name some of the missing places... or produce photographic evidence of it.

@HootyTheNightOwl Yes i would definitely. Anyone could just blag off guesses. Id keep it otherwise. But yes id like to reunite with the correct family.

Is there any chance you could take a close.up off the badges on them? Very curious as i love things like this
I hazard a guess its 1920s to 50s possibly as it was a big thing for ramblers back then to carry these walking sticks like that and even more so you found it in dartmoor.
Could possibly be made of chestnut? And defo antlers for the handle
Amazing find 👏

Oo it gets even more interesting and bizarre wtf lmao 🤣
Have you tried loading the images to ai. Now i dont like ai at all. But it has helped in identifying certain things for me recently, try and upload the whole stick and pics focused in on the badges
Some look like theyre definitely from dartmoor because one of them look like the prison? Or do i need my glasses 🤣

It's very difficult to read some of the carvings, but if you should return to Dartmoor, it might be a thought to find their local historical society, and see if they can read the clues carved into the cane.

It would be great if someone was able to point you in the right direction.
