Mental health question

Do your current circumstances impact on your mental health?

My mental health has always been spikey…I’m fairly sure enough people on here have seen me have real low points. Recently I’ve been in a much better place.

Today my mental health has just crashed, rock bottom. I’m not sure if my injury and inability to get out and run, plus the constant pain and lack of independence is what has pushed it. Or if it’s the fact whenever I’m ill or injured I want my mum. I am just not sure if it’s coincidence, or if it’s a direct result of what has happened this week.

The concern I have if it is a result of circumstances am I to expect this every time something in life goes wrong?

*feeling shit so a bit of a rant, I’m not expectant real answers on this*

Yes, it's extremely normal to feel depressed when life circumstances change. Exercise & access to nature are especially, demonstrably important for mental health too. I don't really no how that plays into your family situation though, you'd have to ask someone more knowledgeable.

Hell though, I feel noticeably more depressed in the winters and when I'm staying back home with my family. Can't imagine what you must be experiencing right now. :(

Seems like a culmination of things.. Triggers, , psychological habits and reactions... It's almost like a need for some prevention planning. Have a go to box of treatment and self care you know helps, for when you will need some support to avoid a serious crash.
Hope you get well soon and take care of yourself right now 💐

I so take when I'm down the best thing for me to do is to get OUT!
Doesn't matter where I go and what I do, but often I just sit on a bench by the ocean and watch the world pass me by.
In ways I am not as down nor miserable as before.

Yes. My situation with my family has gotten better but that's in part due to me limiting interactions with them and keeping to myself. Was pretty bad last year and it's slowly progressing

My physical health has had a tremendous impact on my mental health.

I don’t drive as much. I don’t enjoy going out regularly. I do, but not often.

Sophie I recommend an Aldis magnum ice cream lolly and watch a favourite movie eating it. Have a diet pepsi to go with it .Hope you feel better soon

Chronic pain is always depressing.

I don't think it's a coincidence, no. When you have active depression it is triggered by anything which puts weight on you. Even responsibilities can trigger a slump. I could feel shit all day just having to put the trash out when I was depressed.

Will you always feel like this when things get hard? Well hopefully not, as you won't always have depression as your baseline. I'm proof of that and I was depressed for about 15 years.

My mental health can be like a virus program running in the background. You think it's not there---whoops! There it is!
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
Yes it certainly affects mine. I am sorry Sophie. I hope you start to feel better soon. I know your pain, lack of sleep and being able to do what you want certainly contributes to how you are feeling.

Yes, they do. My physical health isn't exactly great. Wounds that used to take a few days to heal are now taking weeks or longer, and it's got me thinking about losing limbs.
