I didn’t think there was racism in the 80s. Saw a good ole boy go from E-6 to E-5 in one day for telling someone to go to the back of the bus. I loved the Navy!
@bijouxbroussard I thought “All in the Family” and the associated spinoffs did a real good job of making racism look ridiculous that no one would own up to it in a more progressive generation.
@bijouxbroussard That is so much the truth. He coined the phrase “liberal” from the McCarthy era and his use of it and made it a pejorative. Then he coined the term “welfare mothers” it made me want to grit my teeth. He never shared that Nancy became his wife after he saved the “communist” from the black list. so she could still act in Hollywood.
@DeWayfarer Unfortunately, racism has its basis in what was once a viable trait for the survival of our species. Thousands of years ago, people who looked different from the herd got eaten by predators.
@Thevy29 We'll never get rid of crime either, but we still support police forces to reduce it. Let's keep up the fight against racism and not let the perfect be the enemy of the good!
@LordShadowfire @empanadas It’s true. I’m certain when his supporters were speaking about Trump "bringing the country together" they were either being disingenuous or totally clueless. Trump has no interest in being a unifying factor; it doesn’t suit his goals. Our being at each other’s throats is exactly where he wants us.
