I didn’t think there was racism in the 80s. Saw a good ole boy go from E-6 to E-5 in one day for telling someone to go to the back of the bus. I loved the Navy!

@Pfuzylogic There was plenty of racism in the 80s. But there was also beginning to be some redress, so it started to go underground.

@bijouxbroussard I thought “All in the Family” and the associated spinoffs did a real good job of making racism look ridiculous that no one would own up to it in a more progressive generation.

That is so much the truth. He coined the phrase “liberal” from the McCarthy era and his use of it and made it a pejorative. Then he coined the term “welfare mothers” it made me want to grit my teeth.
He never shared that Nancy became his wife after he saved the “communist” from the black list. so she could still act in Hollywood.
