Honestly what was everyone’s opinion about the musician Tiny Tim?

I’m old enough to remember him making television appearances in the late 60s and early 70s.
As a child I remember watching him made me feel uneasy. He was really weird. Only in the 60s . I don’t think he would get much play today.

I saw him for the first time on "Laugh In" way back when,and my initial reaction,like that of many others,was what the heck is that..His strangeness was of course part of the act;strumming a ukelele while singing "Tiptoe through the Tulips" in a falsetto voice was pretty incongruous with the late '60s.He also toured here in Australia in later years,and many were surprised at his level of performance,beyond all the earlier weirdness.

Before my time but have seen his performances and highlights on YouTube.

Anyone who fears not the opinions of others and lives...authenticity; has my respect.
I think I may need to Tiptoe around my answer.
He seemed a bit strange to me, and I wasn't a big Ukelele fan so....
RIP Tiny

He's a fascinating character who beyond just being a novelty act on stuff like Laugh In was a very serious and strange musical historian on the songs of Tin Pan Alley. Like he genuinely contributed a lot to the American songbook and preservation of American art.

Also just like, a raging homophobe and one of the weirdest looking people to have ever lived. But eh, his personal beliefs don't matter too much.

This is also just one of the most fun things ever recorded:

I like him
His version of Stayin Alive always interested me because he’d switch from falsetto to his more natural deep singing voice and it was like he was dueting with himself
Over the top fay. I saw him on Carson being asked why he liked the hockey player Gordie Howe... his answer: "Oh, he's so big and husky". 🤨🤭
Gbaby2021 · 26-30, F
@rinkydinkydoink interesting,someone else in these comments said he was a homophobe 🤣🤣
AndysAttic · 56-60, M
I just listened, sounds like he has got something caught in something.

I'm not a celebrity type of person. Of course I remember him though.

I couldn't care for any celebrity though. Not even sports figures.

I thought that he must have crashed his knuckles on the bar of his bike too many times.

Very unique, in today’s society he would be classified as a legend

@Nimbus LMAO
Mr Tim even did a Playboy Interview. I read the damn thing back when too... he talked of (perhaps) naming his first child Dove Soap.

Yes... he was that odd.

Gbaby2021 · 26-30, F
@rinkydinkydoink wouldn’t he have named his daughter tulip
@Gbaby2021

Yep. The whole interview is here - - just takes a bit of work to look for the exact words he used but his mind was out there... deep space.

@bijouxbroussard You reminded me bijoux,I'd forgotten about ":Miss Vicky"! He married her not long after his first visit to Australia.
@craig7 I didn’t realize that he was 37 and she was only 17 when they married. She was the mother of his only child, a daughter.
craig7 · 70-79, M
@bijouxbroussard Yes,she was pretty young compared to him - I recall that when their wedding was shown on the news,my mother was not impressed!
He was a strange one
