Ok, I will make a "confession."

During my first year of college (1970-71), the guy in the dorm room next to mine would stay up all night smoking weed and playing the Jackson 5.

The stench was so incredibly strong that I imagined he was like the guy in the movie "Reefer Madness", with 5 joints in his mouth at once!

And he played the song "I'll be there."

Over.
And over.
All.
Night.
Long.

This was not every night of course, but often enough that to this day, that experience is the first thing I think of when I hear the name Michael Jackson! 😂

@bijouxbroussard Perhaps I should add that my wife was a big fan of his.

She thought Thriller was brilliant.

I thought it was fine, but I did not share her need to watch it that many times! 😄

@bijouxbroussard Wow looking back now, that must an amazing memory!
@fun4us2b Yes, it really was !

as good as thriller was, Smooth Criminal will always be my fave MJ song... i think it was the Moonwalker movie that sealed it for me.
bugeye · 26-30, F
@LordShadowfire it's a better inspiration than an entire song dedicated to denying he's some kids baby daddy. (Billy jean)
@bugeye I honestly think it shows his creative genius. He could make a song out of anything.
bugeye · 26-30, F
@LordShadowfire i remember reading he had something like a vault with audio samples for whenever an idea pops in his head and he would use them when trying to come up with a new song... it'd be really cool to hear them someday.

i still feel a lil sad knowing we never got to see his last tour :(

I always preferred Prince
@SW-User I think you're right. But it was Michael who made him world famous by agreeing to let him do "Eat It".

@DavidT8899 Yup.
DarlingLinds · 41-45, F
@DavidT8899 who's kids?
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M

vorian · 51-55, M
Pedophile. Musical genius and damaged individual, but still a pedophile.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@vorian I don't think he really was.He was sort of the Howard Hughes of pop music.
DarlingLinds · 41-45, F
@vorian proof?
vorian · 51-55, M
@DarlingLinds i believe the victims. And michael himself when he tells,quite openly, of constant sleepovers with young boys. Put it this way....if you were a billionare paedophile, wouldnt you have a funfair in your back garden.
Back when they all were gorgeous and normal looking…

While I don't deny his place in music/pop culture history,the truth is that best work came in his early years;toward the end his music was bland and pedestrian.

I probably only know beat it and Billie Jean .. I didn’t know he was black until after he died .. and my dad didn’t like him so I never listened to his music as much
I'm just a thriller fan. I did buy the album that got released after his death. But I like Thriller much better.
I like to watch his videos. He was a good dancer entertainer.
ilikeitlikethat23 · 61-69, M
The undisputed King of Pop, not all kings are likable.
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
Uh, you should learn to read. He was found not guilty
