@SW-User If ypou say so. I know both the tunes you mention, but can't for the life of me remember what Shaw sounded like playing them. "Stardust" I remember mostly from the Benny Goodman version; same with "Begin the Beguinne".

@ChipmunkErnie Don't get me wrong. I love Benny Goodman. In fact, The Benny Goodman Story is my favorite Big Band movie biopic.

@CountScrofula cool, what do you enjoy playing? My big band is my favorite, although I used to enjoy my smaller ensemble jazz band, I was among the few who would improvise.

@samueltyler2 I'd say that when I played more seriously I always enjoyed big band the most and had some great times playing in big bands. Currently I play with a small folk band where I switch between that and banjo. The music is a little less conventional but it's very freeing to just play as I wish.
