I know, my cousin is like you. I myself am perfectly fine for now swimming in turbid Adriatic waters, and consequently getting stung by an average of ~10 jellyfishes per season 🥴 My (ir?)rational fear is stepping on weever fish

Nope, never heard of thalassophobia, but then again, sometimes I wonder if some people decided to go crazy with the phobia words.
Like, I believe in the phobias, but when creating the word for them, I feel like they decided to purposely be exotic.

I swam in an Indian Ocean Lagoon but it wasn’t very deep where I went. The barracuda and manta rays were bigger than the normal fish though.

I'm actually a thalassophile who can't swim ... so just partially thalassophobic (would not be crazy about the idea of depending on ferries on a daily/weekly basis for instance, but otherwise I adore the sea)
