Is it just me who thought Amy Winehouse was an American songer because her singing accent is not British ?

I mean, did she really sing in a British accent and I am just crazy?!! I see her talk in an interview now and yea she sounds British. Listening to her songs, I never noticed 🥔🤷🏽‍♀

Well, yes, she was from Camden in London. RIP part of the 27 club.

P.S. You don't believe Stephen Hawking was American, right?

She was an amazing artist. Died way too soon and very British. There’s a great Netflix documentary on her.
She was known for singing rhythm & blues, and soul, and sang them well. Since those were originally genres from the U.S. it was common for even non-American artists to sing those songs in a U.S. accent.

To me she did still have a British accent. I like her songs.

Nah.
I knew she was British since the start.
Talented woman, pity what happened to her.

As a Norwegian, I can tell ya, it's easier to sing in an american accent.

I never got what was so great about her. Her one hit song was about refusing to go to rehab. Though I always assumed she was American until just now.

@Captainjackass I loved her songs, jazz like.. but I never get interested in singers personally. I listen to their music and don’t care much about where they come from or their personal so I didn’t know.
@Captainjackass She sang other songs.

If you notice almost all british singers seem to have no accent when they sing ,the Beatles are a good example

If you want to break out in the American music industry, they prefer it if you sounded more American..
They tried pulling that shit with Jimmy Barnes, saying if his next album sounded more American they'd sign him up. The very first song of that album was:
