I think I finally get the movie Interstellar now

I just woke up randomly thinking about it this morning because I still wanted to know what the deeper meaning is.

I watched it with a friend back in 2018 and wondered why it made her so emotional. I just didn’t get it.

I thought “what’s so emotional about this boring sci-fi shit? I don’t care about space, I’m never going there” lol I’m not into anything that involves space.

Glad you've found some of the pleasure I have had on several viewings. I found it a great mix of different kinds of story telling, expectations built and thwarted and a quite unexpected explanation of some events with (I'm told) very real science amongst the fiction. And the music keeps the pace while being sublime in the right places.

(VERY SLIGHT SPOILER IN MY FINAL SENTENCE)

That movie is on my list to watch for a second time.

I found it fascinating , because it addressed an issue that is glossed over in other sci fi movies, namely the problems that relativity theory presents regarding the passage of time.

But the emotional impact hit me in the very last scene -- as the character throws a stick on the fire, looks up at the stars, and....waits.
