do you remember the original wicker man film

what did you think of it?
WelshLovely · 46-50, F
It totally freaked me out when I watched it for the first time. Christopher Lee was far too weird as Lord Summerisle!

If only the cop had shagged Britt Ekland, he'd have avoided his gruesome fate....😏
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Oh yes -- far better film than the remake.
DaveE54 · 51-55, M
I remember Britt Eklands tits! Weird film but cult classic which should never have been remade
Jacko1971 · 51-55, M
@DaveE54 there are lot of films that should be left alone. I've recently watched remakes of Ben Hur and Mad Max. Neither of them have been as good as the original.
DaveE54 · 51-55, M
@Jacko1971 I quite liked the new Mad Max but agree on the others. Interestingly Ben Hur itself was a remake so that sorta goes against the grain

I went to May Day celebrations at Wellow this year, hugely disappointed there was not a wicker man. Also no cryptids were raised during the celebrations but the date was incorrect (late May Bank Holiday rather than the first of May) so that explains why no indigenous monsters to this isle appeared.

@GeniUs we have a Straw Bear Festival every January. It's essential a pub crawl guided by a man in a straw suit. I believe, at the end of the festival, they burn the bear costume. I don't think the man is wearing it at that point though.

@Jacko1971 Where is that, if you don't mind me asking? I'm quite interested in latter day entertainment it's so much more genuine and atmospheric.
SpudMuffin · 61-69, M
I enjoyed it, last saw it about 5 or 6 years ago
Jacko1971 · 51-55, M
@SpudMuffin it must be 30 years since I saw it. I think I only saw it once. I'm in no hurry to watch it again.
SpudMuffin · 61-69, M
@Jacko1971 I only watch it when I need to slake my thirst for human sacrifice

I have a faint memory of it and haven't seen it in a while... I liked the actors and some of the scenes were memorable, but overall, it left me feeling kind of .... meh. I tend to not like stories about human sacrifice.
Jacko1971 · 51-55, M
@SW-User the policeman was Edward Woodward who is well known in the UK. (He also played the Equaliser on American TV). Other than him, I wouldn't know who else was in it. I'm sure if I were to look it up, one or two names would be familiar.

Christopher Lee and Britt Ekland also starred... I also remember Edward Woodward from the wonderful 1980's version of Christmas Carol, where he played the Ghost of Christmas Present.

@Jacko1971 Christopher Lee and Britt Ekland
I saw it recently. It was good, but too slow.
OldBrit · 61-69, M
Very out there film. Very scary when I first saw it
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Liked it when Britt Ekland took off her clothes, didn't like it when Christopher Lee decided to have a barbeque 🙄
Sarahsummersrockz · 18-21, F
My brothers watched it. I wasn't aloud to. I saw a bit when going to the kitchen and it was weird and scary
Jacko1971 · 51-55, M
Yes. It wasn't very nice. I haven't seen the Nicholas Cage version. I understand it's a poor in comparison.
BigGuy2 · 26-30, M
In history, he's the actor with the most film credits, but he stated that Lord Summerisle was his favourite role, it was written with him in my mind
I saw the remake, but when I saw the original I preferred it.
